i sent my passport on friday to the canadian embasy in mexico city by courier. soo happy they will stamp my visa and send it back in two weeks. we dont know when i will be landing in vancouver. my visa say expire until march 3rd 2011 . we have time to plan our way back to CANADA. Now we are down to coast in mexico celebrating death of days and halloween too and we might spend christmas and new year here on the beach . good luck everyone . all the process took 5 months ...so fast

Hi everyone!

Its been while since my last post...luckly I've been busy enough to forget a little bit of all the stressing process
3 weeks ago I arrived to Canada as visitor and am staying with my husband for the rest of the process, everything its going just great...

I got my PPR by email last friday (Oct29)...but didnt see it until Monday 1st
Im very happy about it and FYI all the process took about 4 months, Mexico's Visa office was very fast (3months processing)

My only concern at the moment is that my medicals are to expire next friday Nov 6th, they asked me if I could travel to Canada by that day and if so I should send my passport right away.... If not I would have to re-do my medical...So yesterday I did the imposible (plus payed a lot) so that they could get my passport today (Tuesday)....

Need to update my mailing address to the Canadian one and hope they send the passport back in time....Will they use express service???...or else why would day ask me to send it right away so that I could land on friday??
Im happy to know I will soon get my PR but still stress about all this situation.

What do you think?? any comments please?? ???

If I were you I would pester them every day haha , it's just a week of pestering and you're perfectly justified.

Tell them they asked you to specifically do that, and that you need your passport before Nov. 6 and that it must include mailing time.

One has to wonder what the logic is to, after everything is approved and the visa issued, have you do the medical tests again ...

Husband is in Peru, applying through Lima office. He has lived in Mexico for a period of about 1 year, in two different states: D.F. and Baja California. He has been asked by the embassy to send in a "Certificado de Antecedentes Policiales de Mexico".

I understand how to go about getting the federal police certificate.

I am a little confused about the one from the states.

He lived most of the time in D.F.. I understand that a State certificate is not needed for those from D.F., that the federal police certificate, is sufficient.

I wonder if he needs one for Baja California even if he lived there for less than 6 months.

If he does need one:

- First,how should I go about that considering that we are both living outside of Mexico, and we can not go there physically easily. On the website it seems to implicate that one needs to physically go to some office.
- He is not Mexican, and has no Mexican ID issued. On the web site it asks for very specific ID that he has never had.

It specifically asks for a state police certificate of every state he's lived for a period of over 6 months so no, it's not necessary

You might like to contact the embassy and ask them if an Informe de Datos Registrales would be enough, which is also issued by PGR (and processed by the Embassy of Canada in Mexico) as this is the police certificate issued for people who don't live in Mexico. The requirements are on CIC website:

To obtain this form, you must send:

1) Three sets of original fingerprints that meet these standards:

* full name, date of birth and sex of the applicant
* the name and address of the police agency
* the signature of the officer taking the fingerprints

To have your fingerprints taken
If you are in:

* Canada: Please contact a fingerprinting agency, or go to the closest local police station.
* All other countries: Please go to the closest local police station. (In some countries the Mexican Embassy or Consulate will be able to assist you)

2) Three photographs of the front, and three of the right profile: passport size (With no makeup, earrings, glasses, beard, moustache, sideburns—no exceptions)

3) One legible copy of your passport’s bio-page (the page where your picture and full name appear).

4) Quote your file number, your name, date of birth, and the name of the visa office, Canadian embassy or consulate or Case Processing Centre where your file is.

Do not send any other documents or provide any payments.

As Mexico requires both a federal and state police certificates, the same 6 month rule is applied to both.

Well if you were asked for it I'm pretty sure you need it

Exactly he lived 7 months in D.F., but it says on the gov's website that "Note that no state police certificate is required from this state; the federal Police Certificate from PGR will be enough.", and 5 months a week in Tijuana.

I assume we are clear.

Yes, he would only need the federal one. Send proof that his stay at Tijuana was shorter than 6 months, if you have any.

Hey everyone, it's me again, how's it all going?

Gal, great to hear you're gonna be here soon, hope it's all going well. Finally got the email today that Miguel's letter is in the mail with the federal police certificate instructions and his labels. They don't require anything else from us so we're happy, meaning we got everything else properly done lol.

Question, does the number they assign your file mean anything? Everyone kept telling me his letter of acknowledgement would have a B file number, but it's got an application number instead so I'm somewhat confused, but oh well at least we're getting somewhere.

I asked the lawyer today.

She said that the 6 months rule referees to a country, and that I should try to get the one for Baja if there is no major impediment.

So my other question is this anyone tried to get a police Clarance for Baja California, while abroad, for someone who is not Mexican. I really would liek to get feed bakc on that one.
