My husband just got asked for an ARC- background, he was a failed refugee and stayed longer then the 30 days (3months longer). He has his certificate of departure, in the box was selected departure to deportation but was not given a deportation order form. 2 questions, should we get a lawyer at this point? The email said I needed " Copies of the Immigration Refugee Board Reasons for Decision and Order regarding your refugee claim in Canada (please provide complete document, not only 1st page) " -- Is this the deportation form, and do i need to request for it or is the certificate of departure equivalent??

This is an specific document that he was given while he was in Canda after he applied for refuge, when he was informed that he was rejected as a refugee, he was given a long document where all the reasons for rejection are listed, that´s what they want to see and read. Send everything you have from his departure, did he inform immigration when he left? Did he pay for his own ticket? All those documents they want to see, you don´t need a lawyer unless it is a messy situation. After this he will be asked to pay some other fee for this ARC and if he didn´t buy his own plane ticket when he left Canada, he will be asked to repay that money before continuing.
You will be fine, do not panic, hopefully he still has all these documents and just send whatever they want to see.
If this makes you feel better, I was also requested to apply for an ARC and got passporte request two days after they received it.
:)

Does anyone have a phone number for the Mexico visa office?

That does make me feel a lot better!!!
His case was abandoned, he did not receive the court date as he had moved and his landlord didn't forward his mail. Is it the IRB decision that they want? Because I had already sent that. so confusing lol If it is not the IRB decision is there a way I can get that document they need??? He paid for his own ticket, and informed immigration when he left.

Hello! Only updating to say we landed on May 29 and today being only the Wednesday following we've gotten a sin, bank account and applied online for the health card without issue. We are super busy getting accustomed to Canada and being a family here so I don't see myself being online too much in the near future. Good luck to everyone waiting. If anyone specifically wants to ask me questions send me a private message because then it will go to my email. Have a great day!

You can request the IRB and they will mail you the full document. Can I ask when you applied for sponsorship, I'm just curious of how long it took them to request the ARC?

Ohhh in that case I am afraid I do not know which document they are asking for....I dont know what document they talk about if his refugee application was abandoned...I guess it would have to be that IRB decision document which you already submitted, but I would double check this, maybe a senior member can help you better.
You are almost there ok? Just a little bit of more documentation, then write a good ARC letter, pay the fee asap and very soon your husband will get Passport Request.
Good luck :)

I have seen on this thread somewhere a link to CIC statistics that show how many applications the Mexico CITY VO is processing at the moment and the percentage of how many cases are processed in different time lines. I can't find it again, does anyone know what that link is??????

Thanks :)

okay I don't want to discourage anyone but my application has taken forever. We sent it November 2013. No documents wrong or missing either.

I know how you feel, ours is also taking forever :(
To order the IRB full document you go to http://www.irb-cisr.gc.ca/Eng/contact/Pages/add.aspx and contact your regional office, it's a fairly easy process. Good luck :)

sorry. I have to comment.

Try having the lunatics tell you your relationship is not genuine. Then you have to appeal. 5 years in total for us. THAT IS PAIN !

:o

omg. I honestly could not imagine. I'm sorry you have to go through that!!!! Thats my worst fear. Not necessarily saying the marriage is fake but being declined and having to appeal!
