Hi T

I have been reading through this thread for the first time and this post caught my eye. Your applaction was recieved at the Mexico City visa office on Jan 23 and your husband has already gone for an interview? Thats amazing! Congrats to you and fingers crossed the process stays moving fast for you. (looks like you had to wait 4 months for SA!) I am so happy because I did not think it was possible to move so fast...I thought once sent to Mexico it would be a min of 6 months but more like 8 months for the process. Reading this post makes me feel so positive.
It can! The fastest 20% of applications in the latest 12 months of data available were completed in 6 months at the Mexico City VO (Visa Office):

I sent an enquiry to the Mexico City VO a few days ago. After sending them my fingerprints in late October for them to get my PGR, we had heard nothing. I got a response from them this morning - apparently my application is just sitting there waiting to be reviewed. So frustrating, I thought they'd be doing background checks by now.

This is in response to your email (see below).

Your application is in queue for review. An exact review schedule is not yet available. However, all applications are reviewed in the order in which they were received.

No further action is required by you at this time.

We thank you for your patience and for keeping your correspondence to a minimum.
Hello,

I received the exact e-mail at the end of January, it would be great if you could update when you receive any more notice as we haven't heard anything since and are getting really impatient to know what's happening.

Thanks:)

So I have not yet order GSCM notes - we got SA on Jan 23rd and still have not received AOR from Mexico City VO. We are still showing "in transit".

1 - should I apply for notes now, will there be anything in them useful from the SA process?
2 - We submitted a notarized IMM5475 "authority to release information to a designated individual" with our application, do we still need to submit an IMM5744? If so, what does an IMM5475 do?

You have to submit the permission form every time you order GCMS notes. Use of a representative apparently doesn't work for that. I am also representative for my husband and the communicate freely with me via email. I'm sure it's only bc we signed a use of representative form otherwise they wouldn't disclose anything to me.

What are GSCM notes? I have never heard of that. Will they release information about the processing of your file to you or will it slow down the processing? Please fill me in so I can order them, we are getting so anxious to know what's going on with our file. Thanks!!!

They are notes from the officers processing your file - depending on where you are in the process, they may not really contain useful information. If your file is in process though they can be handy. There is info on the forum on how to request them, and a YouTube video. If you request them online they won't delay your processing.

How have I never seen this before? They should make this information more noticeable or available to the general public. I was thinking I hit the goldmine when I found this forum to compare more realistic time lines and now you post this. This is great! Well, as long as you're in the lucky 20% :)

Thanks :) I'm going to try that, we are at the end stage of processing but it's taking forever and I want to know what's the hold up.

In Philly area it's $650 so at least you're better off and someone mentioned in the Midwest somewhere it was pushing 4 figures. Supply and demand ...

Keep in mind that he needs to pick up the PGR background check and drop it off at the Embassy in 10 days. If he won't be there, he can leave a power of attorney for someone if he has family or close friends there. Otherwise, since it sounds like you don't live in Mexico, the Embassy can process the PGR for him. Have him drop off stuff with them before he leaves :)
Those prices are crazy!

He's back already, but left a power of attorney letter with his parents so they can pick up the PGR check. Is it possible to drop it off at the Embassy? I can only find their mailing information... I was going to ask them to mail it, but if the Embassy has a drop box, that would be less stressful...

It does have a drop box (or at least used to). Like a vault, actually, so it's probably worth trying if they don't mind the trip to Polanco. Think about including that pre-paid courier bill for the CoPR in the same packet. That way you know they receive it!!! You should be able to make one on fedex.com and PDF it to email to your in-laws if you want to save them a trip to Fedex or UPS.

On the prices for medical, if you want to be creative and can spare the time, you could head up to Canada and use the $$$ difference for the trip and hotel for the getaway. Medicals up there are more on ~$150-180 plus the exchange rate right now vs Boston could end up being a win-win, circumstances permitting.

Well not to rain on the sunshine parade... but sponsoring my spouse through VO Mexico City has been a complete nightmare

It will be 1 YEAR (this April) that we've been going back and forth on what should have been a slam dunk residency application.

In fact, my GCMS notes show that my spouse was approved 8 MONTHS AGO!! We only needed a secondary medical screening to move forward - a screening request that CIC says they mailed out to my spouse AND panel physician (in Costa Rica) but neither of them received it... like there's actually proper mail service in Central America >_<

So the staff at VO Mexico sat around for 8 MONTHS before they finally put in a phone call to my spouse last month. 8 MONTHS!!

But wait! It gets better...

The panel physician cannot access my spouse's file (in what I am assuming is the e-medical) system!!

So I contact my MP.

MP gets me the 'right' UCI/UMI combination for e-medical. NOPE! Doesn't work.

VO Mexico sends us the 'right' UCI/UMI combination for e-medical. NOPE! Wrong again.

MP requests an INTERVENTION on our behalf (basically calling on VO Mexico and the panel physician to talk to each other to sort it out).

VO Mexico tells MP, 'oh yeah we talked to the panel physician today'. Panel physician tell us, 'no one called us from VO Mexico'.

And around and around and around we go...

Sorry to hear about the delays :(

Has the MP tried calling the Regional Medical Office? They "own" the medical process, can actually see what is in the medical files, and are the liaison with the Panel Physicians.

One question to consider asking them would be if specific follow-up tests are needed or if it's simply that the medical results expired (they expire one year from the date the medical was initiated). If a standard medical is requires (vs specific follow-up tests to dig into results from the original exam) you don't even need paperwork to redo the medical exam (since it is a family class application).

Hi, I have a question in regards to the interview if requested. With Mexico VO handling cases from outside of Mexico will the applicants only option is to travel to the Mexican VO for the interview?
