I have a question and if any one can answer it, please chime in....My husband's niece wants to apply under the skilled worker program. She should have enough point, but the only thing is that her son(2 years old) was born with a partially formed heart. He has had several heart surgeries. He will have his final one in a month or so. Will this preclude him from being accepted into Canada? She and her husband are in perfect health.
It depends on what level of support he will need going forward (if any, given that he is having his 'final surgery') and the plan to get him that care. If he won't need significant social services support going forward then he should not be in admissible. They would need to supply details of his history to the DMP when they apply and I would suggest getting a cover letter from the paediatrician summarizing the case history and treatment plan.

Hi all - another quick question - yesterday I logged into ECAS with my husband's UCI (he is the applicant) and it just said "Application Received" and the date. Today I logged in and it now also says "Medical results have been received". Does anyone know if this means anything significant or am I just grasping at straws?

Its always hard to tell wtih ecas.. sometimes people get PPR with no change in their ECAS, sometimes it does change to something else, etc. I would be happy with any update on the Ecas though, even if it is just grasping for straws :)

Yup, it seems to be very hard to tell anything with eCas (I've been doing lots of reading of old posts on this subject).

I'm guessing mine is probably one of the first non-Mexican cases to be processed in Mexico, which makes me think it will likely take longer than most. On the other hand, we don't need a Mexican police record which seems to take a lot of time. So.... grasping at straws indeed :) I guess I just have to wait and see!

Hello good people! I just wanted to give another update. My hubby found a job on his 4th day here in Canada! We were very surprised and happy about that. He is still adjusting to life here. Although he lived in the States before moving here, it is quite different because there are very few Spanish speakers so he has had to adjust to the language. He is taking English classes as well (2 times per week).

Does anyone know how easy it would be to complete a bachillerato online for Mexico? My hubby did not finish high school and does not have a GED. He took the GED test in the States (he passed 3 out of 5 tests). In the States, they let you take the GED test in English or Spanish. We don't think his English would be up to par to take the GED in English here in Canada especially when he already had trouble taking the test in Spanish (it's only offered in English or French in Canada). Any ideas on what he could do? Because of visa issues, he cannot easily go back to the U.S. to complete GED in Spanish.

Never heard of Bachillerato or Preparatoria online programs for Mexico. We have a Ceneval, which is an exam based on everything taught in High school. You have to be older than 21 years old to take it and it has the equivalence of a Mexican High School diploma.

My parents were taking English classes provided for free by the Ontario government and they also had other (optional) classes that would count towards getting an Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Not sure if that helps.
Hi americana in TO ...Actually there was/is Prepa ONLINE http://educacionadebate.org/31333/crea-sep-prepa-por-internet/#.UF48mVGekn0

but it seems it is full right now http://prepaenlinea.sep.gob.mx/

Hello again :) I have a question, hope you can help me. I understand that only official documents (police, birth and marriage certificates) need to be translated, but what about emails, cards, letters, etc? All of that is in Spanish. Do I need to translate those myself?

Thanks a lot! :)

I only translated the primary documents and anything I felt that was super important and did not want to be missed (Sworn documents, etc) However, since my spouse and I speak in English primarily we did not have to translate letters, email, cards, etc.. but letters from family and friends (on his side) were translated into English. We did have some other documents that we didnt translate though, documents from our bank account there, etc - I guess it depends how strong your other proof is and/or how important the evidence you have in Spanish is to your case.

Good morning.
I am so sorry to bother everyone, but all this process is sooo confusing. I am about to start, I am in Canada and my wife in Mexico. She will have to go to Mexico city for the Medical exam. Do you know how much it is? Also, I understand she needs two police letters? One from SSP and the other from PGR. Does she have to get them in Mexico city or can she get them in her hometown?
If she gets the letters on this trip, do I have to send them together with the proof she had her medical exams? or does she send the letters latter.
So, just to get out of confusion, I send all the sponsorship documents filled out with letters from friends, photos, chats, etc plus proof that she did her Medical plus the letters from PGR and SSP. Is this correct?
Can someone please help me out? I dont want the papers sent back for some mistake I make.
Thank you soooo much....
