Congratulations! Hope this means I might some news soon too.

I'm also applying from Guatemala via Mexico, our application was received February 19. Although our sponsorship approval got held up because we didn't send our medicals with our application (we were misinformed at the doctor's office and told to send in our application first) so our file wasn't transferred until May. I was just wondering if you ever received an AOR or request for more info, what was your process like?

Hi there,

Thank you for the wishes.

No other documentation was requested. Proof of relationship was already in the application so we weren't asked for more. I am unaware what a GPR is? I don't think that applies to my application. We had a very solid application where we felt 100% comfortable with what we sent... Wedding photos, trips, family...

We received limited information for 8 months about our file. I guess it was all about patience. We received only 2 AOR's:

Feb 19 AOR CIC (ECAS)
Mar 15 SA CIC (email)
May 3 AOR VO (our MP told us about our AOR when we called in July, nothing emailed or on ECAS)
Oct 9 passport request

We also didn't have to redo the police check. It just seemed to all work out very smoothly (except the strike).

Hope this helps.

Hello,

We also just received our passport request on our sponsorship application. My common-law spouse and I have been following this forum throughout our process and would like to provide you all with our dates. It really helped us knowing how things were moving at the embassy.

Application filed: December 22, 2012
Meds done: September 10, 2012
Sponsorship Approval: January 23, 2013
AOR: May 1, 2013
Request for Additional Information: May 7, 2013
Passport Request: October 24, 2013

In total, the process took 10 months for us. They waived the interview and additional medical exam (ours had expired). We are both in Canada currently but will go to D.F. to submit the passport.

I hope this helps. Best of luck to everyone.

Cheers.

Our AOR was received a couple of days ago. In the letter from the embassy, it states they require the following:

Proof of Relationship. Examples of evidence may be, but are not limited to:

· Joint bank account statements

· Joint properties

· Joint mortgages

· Joint memberships

· Medical/life insurance showing your spouse as beneficiary

· Etc.

-------------------------------------------------------------
In the application, we have made it clear we do not live together. We have provided proof of relationship in the form of emails, pictures, Skype logs, cards, etc., so why are they now asking for joint proof of relationship documents? Obviously, we can't provide that since we don't live together. I'm in Canada and my wife is in Mexico.

Maybe it was us. My wife and I left Mexico city on October 12th, in an aeromexico flight. She took a few pictures of me with my passport before boarding the plane.
Oh, very possible!! Do you have long black hair? If so that was you :)

Hi, quick question what are the GCMS notes? I heard about a form we can fill out to have access to the process of the file. Is this form called GCMS?
Who can fill it out and where to send it? Where can I also get that form? I am sponsoring my husband and we've been waiting since April 2013 and still no news. So I was wondering if there is any way I could get info without sending the VO of Mexico an email and delaying the process. Thanks

Hey guys! Quick question. If a sponsor applied for assistance before a few yrs ago and now she is getting ready to sponsor hubby. But she has been employed for the last few yrs. can she include an explanation in the sponsor questionnaire? So that they dont automatically decline her sponsorship application?

You can apply for your notes here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/requests-atip.asp

GCMS notes are basically what has been done on your file. The sponsor has to request them but, the applicant has to sign a release form. The release form can be emailed to the applicant and emailed back before it's attached to the request. I've just printed off 20 copies and will have my husband sign them when I go to see him. Then, I can request our notes whenever I want.
Don't be scared to send a CSE to the VO if you want to know where your file is at. Of course, don't do it all the time but, if you haven't heard anything since April, go ahead. You could get a form reply or a doc request. Either way, at least it's something.

That looks like something a common-law couple would receive. I would email the VO and explain that you are unable to provide any of those documents as you don't live with your wife. Mention the evidence that you provided and maybe send some more if you've got any. We applied in July but, I've been consistently gathering more evidence "just in case".

Did they mention what was missing from your Schedule A? Maybe it's just been some time since you applied and they just want an updated form.

As long as she is not receiving government assistance now, she is eligible to sponsor. I don't even think she needs to mention it.

But i recall. The 5 sponsor questions when i was sponsoring my husband. And it said if you answer no to any of the following 5 questions. Your app will not be approved please dont mail it in. And one of the questions were did you ever apply for assistance?

She was litterally on it for 2 payments. So im guessing she cant not include it but if she is to include an explanation maybe they would consider it they also have 2 kids.
