Not to worry then, only Mexican applicants no longer send in the police check with the initial application! it was a rule that changed last year but for Mexicans only. The PGR and SSP are in reference to Mexican police checks so only mexican nationals have to get them after the recieive a letter from the embassy!

In other words, you did things the right way :)

everybody should chill! this is the mexico thread but because the Mexico VO handles all Central America apps then ppl should be sensitive to that and avoid generalizations. Yes, every country has specific instructions so the applicant should become familiar with the instructions applicable to their own situation.

Lena, welcome to the forum and good luck with your application.

How come that they asked for the police reports later? We sent everything right away and also paid the total fee because it said if you things step by step it will take way longer. Also many ppl have been saying that their status online doesn't change but mine did right away to decision made. I wonder if it has to do if you send them the bar codes that you print of and attach with the application. Best of luck for you =) Hope things move fast so we can be with our spouses ASAP.

Lena
Lena...actually, we sent the police report right away also, but for some reason they asked us to do it again...and I felt it kind of slowed us down. We also paid in full before we sent in the file...my status changed also...to decision made, but when the file was transferred from Canada to Mexico City it was only updated once...to "in progress":

We received xxx xxx xxx application for permanent residence on October 5, 2012.

We started processing xxx xxx xxx application on January 15, 2013.

Medical results have been received.

we are waiting for an update!

Does anyone have any experience with changing their address (address of the applicant) while their file is still in process (address changing from one mexican state to another)?
Any thoughts on if it would cause a delay?
Also would you do it through a case specific enquiry? and do you think you would get a response from them confirming they did it?

Yes but they were specifically talking about the PGR which I believe is only for Mexican citizens. The problem is that the other poster didn't realize she wasn't in Mexico. Because it's pretty rare someone in here isn't. Just miscommunication.

Lena, my wife is also from El Salvador & I am the canadian sponsor. My wife file was received in June 2012, but her medicals expired and she got new ones done in August. I was approved as sponsor in September, from then the file was transferred to Mexico around October 15. The application went "In Process" on January 15, 2013, pretty similar to Dazz'.

Good luck with your application.

Chuladaa, i had to change our mailing address because some issues with the original one, so I submitted a case specific inquiry through https://dmp-portal.cic.gc.ca/cicemail/intro-eng.aspx?mission=mexico

My address was updated within a month but they never confirmed anything which is pretty frustrating as you may already realize.

Good luck.

my wife went to Mexico City mid December and submitted the police reports approximately Dec. 18th...or something like that...so less than 30 days later it changed! I have heard that now they are verifying the rest of the info...it can be 1 more week or even months. in December there were 3 people that sent in the police reports and by the beginning of January they got their PPR...thats what I was hoping for BUT...I guess things dont necessarily go in any particular order...so Im anxiously waiting! My case may also be a little more complicated, my wife has 3 kids (together we have 5)...and their father did agree and signed the agreement for them to be allowed to leave...so that may also be holding this up a little...Im not sure!
