Oh man, I feel for you! I'm expecting to hear something sometime in October, crossing fingers that they pull our file when our documents are due the week of October 15

Thats what I think too. Our deadline would be a few days after yours.. hopefully we hear from them soon! This has been the hardest wait for me so far :(

if anything im hoping they pull our file on sept 28, because that was the day our medical was due by,
and for the rest of the police checks noone ever gave us a set amount of time.
so im crossing my fingers for that day lol.

Considering there are so many of us in the final stages (hopefully) the embassy sure has been quiet! I remember reading once about batches for PPR's.. anyone want to share that with me? :)

When did you renew your medical? According to the website, they have to contact you within 3 months after you submitted it (usually less). If they don't, then you can start harassing them :)

If my case is any indication, I got contacted for the ARC 5 weeks after I gave them my last police certificate.

Well we are back in Fort McMurray now. The landing went smoothly. He didn't need the B4 form. So I'm not sure when you need that and when you don't. But thought I'd mention that. We got his SIN number easily. We have to get his Driver's License translated first before switching over to Canada, which we are doing through the YMCA immigrant services for free. I highly recommend checking out what immigrant services there are free. They're very helpful and welcoming. And we also got his AB health card number. I don't know why I thought we had to wait 3 months?? Maybe because we're married and he was just added on to my health care I guess.. He got a job today just at a grocery store until his english improves and we get his full driver's license. So it's been a busy few days, but he's getting settled in. He definitely likes it so far. Just finds a lot of things a little weird. :)

Hope everyone is doing well!

Yeah it's a relief to have the health care just in case. I'm sooo glad he's here now to get use to the weather as it gets colder instead of having to jump right in! :)

Congrats! Glad to hear it all went smoothly :)

If he's importing anything on a future trip it's important to get the B4 stamped soon (just go to an international airport or border entry soon and explain that it wasn't stamped upon arrival). He'll need it to prove that the goods are duty exempt when they arrive and he is only eligible to submit a B4 when he lands (they've been known to allow very shortly thereafter too). I wish officers would consistently ask for it but some of it make it more of the immigrant's responsibility to ensure it gets stamped.

AB is kind with regards to health insurance and gives immediate coverage to spouses and partners (unlike other provinces that require the 3 month wait, which is probably where you heard about the wait). Hopefully the DL goes smoothly too. :)

It's wonderful he has a job already - he must feel great and it will open up his eyes to more of the 'funny experiences.' You'll have lots of laughs coming up so enjoy seeing your life from a new perspective :)

Hope he's enjoying Fall :)

Hey all,

Just wanted to check in and say hello to everyone. We finally went to La Tortilleria on Dufferin and Bloor in Toronto. We bought fresh (still warm) tortillas, chorizo and homemade salsa verde. One interesting point, I had passed by La Tortilleria many times before and for some reason, this time I realized that they took down their old sign. If I wouldn't have know that they were there, I would have driven right past them. Anyway, everything we bought was delicious.

I love it there! I dont know which location you went to (I think they have about four) We usually go to the one on Jane or the other one on Dufferin! The one on Dufferin is close to Pancho's Bakery and he makes pretty awesome pan de dulces. I got a concha from there and it was amazing!! He also makes churros the traditional way (I think hes from the DF - thats why his food is so good!!) and then around the corner theres the (I think its called) Aztec Mexicana .. All three stores are pretty packed! We always see Mexicans eating at the Aztec Mexicana so I am assuming its the best place for tacos :)
