Onca again thanks. When you look at the box notice on the bottom of that first link it states you cannot leave the country until PR is complete. Also, we fedexed just last week a simple carte de poder and it was not accepted. The woman at the place ??? showed my brother in law the paperwork from a person in Ottawa aand it included a formal power of attorney. What am i missing. Any idea?? I would love for you to be right. A trip to sunny Acapulco is just wht the doc is ordering, plus it would be so nice to see everyone....where are you from??
The federal one is done by the Canadian Embassy in Mexico City. We sent the required info and now they take it from there and send it off to Vegrevile Alberta.

@acapulcanadian

Damn, I had read that about the carta poder but forgot it sorry. Yeah that won't work.

What it actually says in the page is this:

CiC said:
If you leave Canada before permanent residence is approved there is no guarantee that you will be allowed to return or re-enter Canada. This is especially true if you require a visitor visa. Your application may be refused or delayed if you no longer have temporary resident status to qualify as a member of the Spouse or Common-law partner in Canada class.
Which means that if you require a visitor visa to enter Canada, you can't be allowed in mainly because a temporary resident class visa (aka, "visitor") precludes the idea that you're leaving at some point, and since your application for permanent residence says otherwise, they can and probably will refuse your status as temporary resident and ask you to turn around and go back.

That's what the last thing is about: "your application may be refused or delayed if you no longer have temporary resident status", but you would not be a temporary resident under a work visa (per se, this is a technicality), at least through the validity of the visa itself. It doesn't mean you can't leave, it only means you need to retain your status and explain to them why you had to leave, in this case it being negligence from the Mexican government to accept that people can't travel all over the world for a police record. [rant over]

Anyway, if I were you my course of action would be to notify Vegreville or whoever is handling my case about how I've done my research and found no other way but to go get the paper myself (but I'm open to suggestions), and ask for them for permission to travel during this period and inform them of all of the arrangements of such trip, and how I plan to resume my extended residence in Canada as soon as possible.

HI I am mexican working in an international company in Nicaragua.
My boss has told me that they want to interview me for the same company in Canada, if everything goes well they will give me a job offer so that I can apply for Permanent Residency and quit the job in Nicaragua and get hire in Canada. (that would be a dream to me) ;)

I was looking in the internet and since I am Mexican I could apply for Nafta temporary work permit once I get the job offer and start working in Canada while the PR is getting process. However I have some questions I have not been able to figure out, even though I have search search the net and the forum.

I have an engineering degree (which is in the professinal listing in the Nafta) but the company in Canada might offer me a position in accounting area since I have 6 yrs experience in accounting but I do not have a BA in accounting (which is also in the professinal listing in the Nafta). Is this a problem for applying in the category of Professional in the Nafta?

1- Should I apply as an intra-tranfer or as a professional in the Nafta?
2- As an intra-transfer do I have to be working in a company in my country and the company has to literally transfer me into the same company in Canada OR can I quit my job in my country in X company and get rehired in Canada in the same X company (that is how my company is proposing me to do it)?
3- As an intra-transfer applicant, are the requirements a bachelor degree or the years of experience in the area being hired?
4- As a Mexican what were the steps to applied for the nafta (through embassy or border?, how long does the process take? what are the requirements, whatever you can tell me)
5- As mentioned I am in Nicaragua, should I apply for the Nafta and PR in Mexico City when I am living in Nicaragua or should I apply through Guatemala which is the closest CHC office (there is non in Nicaragua)?
6- Which office would be easier and faster for me - Mexico because I am Mexican and may know more about Nafta or Guatemala which is the corresponding office near me. Or I don't have a chose and can only apply to Mex or Guatemala without choosing?

Well, thanks so much for your help :) and responses, I am excited :) to hear from you all.

Thks and sorry for so many questions, if I did not ask something please just inform me.

well if you're right you're right, but I think it's easier for them to try and get the military service card than it is to aggressively tell them they're wrong.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE I NEED HELP HELP I just need to know how much longer do I have to wait to get my PERMANENT RESIDENCE VISA?
I am just applying under the category of Family class.
My husband just was approved from CIC to sponsor me in August/15/2010 and the embassy already got my application in september/02/2010 and they started proccessing my application since december/06/2010.
The last e-mail I got from the embassy was in february/22/2011 requesting my police criminal verification from the police in canada but I already sent my police certificate from the PGR to the embassy in december/23/2010.
I would like to know if somebody knows why is the embassy requesting me that police criminal verification from the police in canada? and do you guys think that it is a good sign that the embassy is requesting me that paper?
GOOG LUCK TO ALL.

should we do the medical before we submit the application, or wait until they contact us to do so. We were going to wait, but then I read on here that it HAS to be completed before we send in the application, is that true for Mexico? we are applying outland

No troubles. Very easy. $1040. You get a reciept number and a form that you need to print off and send in with the application.

Select Mississauga when you pay your fees. Yes, even if you're applying outland through Mexico VO.

thanks to all for you quick answers.
just a curious question for people who have already gone through this process.... after the file was transfered to out of Mississauga, how long did it take before they asked for your federal police certificate?
