Alright so here is something else I learned today on my mission to get this RCMP check

The company we are using would only ship the form to my husband with Purolator or Fedex they wouldn't let me do my own courier so I told them to use Purolator as I assumed they would be the same..

But apparently Purolator doesn't service Mexico and they give your shipment to UPS and charge you more. I learned this after the Purolator woman told me to track my Purolator shipment on the UPS website for more up to date details vs their own Purolator site. So under “reference #” vs tracking number on UPS's site I was able to track my shipment..

The cost to send 1 document with Purolator was $117 and it would have been $95 with UPS. I'm disapointed I had to pay extra for the exact same service. The worst part is that if I had picked Fed Ex it would have been $75!! $42 difference is pretty big! I wish I had taken the time to look into it before I shipped but I was just so focused on getting it out ASAP.

Anyways just wanted to share for anyone else who may be shipping out and also am wondering if anyone else has any experience with shipping out of Canada to Mexico and which was is cheapest?

it would have cost $42 dollars just to send a piece of paper!!
wow. that seems like alot. i understand its fed ex and international but still!
i really am hoping we dont need to get the rcmp. this process is already broke my bank :(

thanks for letting us know! thats very useful information

ah sorry!! i read way to fast!. 8)
but either way! i was thinking maybe $20-25. but not more than that!!
i feel bad you paid so much for one document! and for the other documents you had to pay for too! :(
it shouldnt be this expensive to send something so small. kind of a rip off.

The things I said here will definitely be top priority on my list :D

Btw for those who said your hubbies didn't like poutine. You can't really say that until you've given Montreal's poutine an opportunity, the stuff I've had in Ontario sucks, but poutine from La Banquisse in MTL is OMFGSOGOOD. Heart attack on a place has never tasted that good.

I know its terrible!! I'm going to start booking flights vs sending by courier cuz at this rate it will be the same price !! LOL
I think DHL is the best for Mexico? But in Canada its not as popular..in my opinion everyone always wants to use Purolator..

Do you know or does anyone know if you send a DHL courier to Mexico can you send it directly to a DHL office and then write "Hold for pick by (persons name) the same way you can in canada? Will they know what that means? So I can just have my husband go in and grab it after he gets off work?

We've had a lot of problems getting courier to my husband because his apartment little complex is gatted and the number of it isn't displayed anywhere..he literally had to write his name and address on a paper tape it outside on the fence and then sat outside from 9 to 5 on his day off waiting for the courier because we were so afraid if he missed it. It would take even longer to get and they wouldn't leave a notice and we wouldn't know where to pickup

Also has anyone had to get the ARC?
All I know is I will need it eventually and I will have to pay $400
But I have no idea at what point they will ask us for it.. How long it takes.. Or if there is anything I can do in advance?

Tip: Track the date your package arrives (or is ready to be delivered) and print the screens showing the plane arrived too late to Mexico or that it sat in Canada/the US/wherever longer than it should have. If it arrives after the 'promised date' you are eligible for a refund. Call after your package is delivered and ta-da!

This obviously doesn't apply if someone isn't home to receive it or if it gets stuck at customs, but don't let them blame customs if the plane arrived too late for the package to make it on a truck for delivery that day.

Enjoy :)
