Success! Today we received our Sponsor Approval through email!! Bonitanita, we applied on May 1st, received on May 3rd. Did not get an AOR but received approval for sponsorship today. We applied using the Buffalo office since my wife lives in San Jose, California.

The funny thing is, we thought we would be sent to the Ottawa case processing centre for the next step. The email said that the Application for PR has been forwarded to a visa office abroad for further processing and based on wife's home address, the visa office is the Consulate General of Canada - Los Angeles, California.

Hopefully this offices processes PR applications faster than Ottawa does.

Another question though. I did not pay my RPRF at the time of application, but in anticipation of approval, I actually paid it yesterday. Does anyone know if the people processing the application will know that this was paid and not ask me for receipt?

I second that, haha! Really wished they had worked backwards just a little bit more.

My guess is we will get approval on Aug. 17 (exactly 3 months after app was received, it seems like that happes a lot).

Just one more week, hopefully!!

you would think they would want may out of the way before they are flooded with phone calls! haha.

congratulations on the approval, and good luck for stage 2!
As far as I know, the VO can not see that the RPRF has been paid later on. So your best bet is to email a copy of the receipt to CIC so they can see that you have paid, and they can send the information to the VO. the email for that I believe is CPCM-EXTCOM @ cic.gc.ca and make sure that you quote UCI, File number etc.

Also, to be on the safe side, you can send a case specific enquiry and attach the receipt of the payment.

like this you should be covered and they should be able to match it to your file pretty easily.

that's probably why they keep the 30th of April on the website - it won't prevent people from May calling, but it's likely to reduce the number of people. IF they jumped to the 15th of May on the website, they would get so many more phone calls...

Good luck for waiting - it's almost there - don't loose hope! the last week is for sure one of the hardest...

Felt like giving up hope today saying goodbye to my boyfriend today before his flight to Canada

I don't want to go until we at least know that stage 1 was approved!!

you might have already been approved.... just gotta wait for the snail mail. Not everyone gets an email.... I think you've already been approved!
