I'm a Canadian citizen (born here not naturalized). I'm sponsoring my Filipina wife. There is no client ID# anywhere on the imm1344 form. I did not use a lawyer to fill out and submit our application. I did them myself. I submitted our application to CIC in Mississauga and according to the Canada Post tracking number it arrived May 10th 2012.
I would have thought that once they process your application they send you a client ID. Is this the case? If not how do I get one?

You are right CanadianJeepGuy. You will get a UCI# with your aor/approval and your wife will have a file/application #. Hopefully you will have some good news shortly. Keep your chin up and a positive attitude.....it's the only way to go! ;D

Guys, my Ecas started to work today. It had two links, my name and my partner's name. Under both it said application received April 30th. It didn't say anything else other than that.

Anyways... I think you people with partners from visa exempt countries are pretty lucky. You can wait it out in Canada, something I really wish we could do. I don't wanna hear anyone complain about being bored coz they're not working :P :P :P lol

There's people whose apps were sent a week after mine that are getting antsy.. I say you probably have a few more days to wait unless you are really lucky! I'm just glad my app didn't make its way to the floods in Manila yet.

Really?
I was just planning as going as a tourist and using my sponsorship and payment receipts to prove we are in the process...

Maybe less likely for you but PR application might work against you. Some people are luckier than the others but many people from visa requiring countries are usually denied the visa because PR application weakens the ties to your home country, which can be interpreted as you may not leave Canada when the time is up. Don't be panicked but be prepared. Don't bring too much stuff with you ;).

i am very happy to read that some of us received sponsors approval! i hope we received ours by next week.

Congratulations! your VO is impressively fast... your application was received 6 weeks after mine, approved for sponsorship the same day, and now already PPR!
I'm a bit jealous of course! :) but in a good way, and happy for you that it is going well.
Hope your visa is issued quickly.
Cheers,

Just got off the phone with CIC call centre to check in on the status of our file. Sadly, nada :( The agent advised me that perhaps CIC would begin processing my file late next week.

For those interested, the agent clarified that it is not 86 days processing from when CIC opens an application package, but that 86 days is the current processing time estimate from when the complete application package is received by CIC. The agent also advised that applications are processed in batches, so sadly it's not always first come first served :(

Also, if anyone is looking for a shortcut, after dialling the call centre number, I keyed in 1,2,1,2,1,0 to be connected to an agent without having to listen to all the long-winded messages. Lucky me, I got through on my first try this morning and was only on hold for about 6 minutes.
