We already noticed there seems to be no real system behind it >< and that they seem to go through changes, its annoying to have to wait and not being able to predict what happens next or who's next in line, but maybe its still a little comfort that they already got to may and working on it. And one or the other might get surprised earlier than others.....still i hope we all get good news in a good time frame even if its in a mixed up order.

Hello guys,

I am applying under the family class (Spouse sponsor) from outland UK as the Principle applicant. I have been viewing previous spreadsheets dating back to May 2011. I seem to notice a lot of people applying outland from U.K have not had PPR in their process, is their a specific reason or is it more likely the spreadsheets were never updated or once the applicant received PPR they never updated the spreadsheet themselves.

This seems to be a bit of a pattern regarding applicants from London. Is it because VO does not request Passport from Nationals and sends COPR and bypasses that stage. Any help would be appreciated because it seems to me London is sloooooooooow but if PPR is missed maybe I am wrong.

Many thanks :D

Hey there,

I'm no specialist, so I can not be sure ( it's CIC after all...) but indeed UK doesn't ask for passports for EU nationals ( visa exempts) and send directly the COPR, it reduces the steps and makes it faster... as it is one step less - asking for passport, sending it back etc...
that's my guess anyway!
Good luck,

Sweden

Thanks Sweden,

You have put my mind at ease and starting to wrap my small brain about how this all works. :P These pesky Brits dont stick around long enough to finish off the spreadsheets so it is virtually impossible to gauge how long previous recorded applicants took to get their COPR or finally landed. If you put yourself in to a spreadsheet database at least record the final results as others try to gauge themselves on previous cases, especially considering everybody here has to wait patiently and looking at previous entries is the little glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. Rant over ;D

We got an AOR! It came through email, and the bottom of email says CPC Mississauga. I'm really happy, to know they have the application, but am also really worried now, because we weren't expecting any communication at all for at least another 2 months.

On my way back home, I thought maybe this is due to the new validated forms for the sponsor, the one that has a barcode. But if this is the case, then more people should have AOR email.

I tried eCAS once now, and it's not working for us.

Very good news BC Girl :)

At least you know that they received your application package.

All the best!

hi to all,

i would like it if somebody could clarify something for me because i get to read some contradictory stories.

do VOs require passports from citizens of visa-exempt countries ? or the passport request is only for countries that require a visa to visit canada ? i am applying through rome, i am a greek citizen and do not need a visa to visit.

If you do not require a visa to come to Canada (you are visa exempt) then you are not required to submit your passport ( this happened not too long ago) they might ask that you submit photocopies of your passport and additionnal pictures or simply send you your COPR ( confirmation of permanent residence) Hope this helps!

thank you. but i already sent a photocopy of my passport. it was a requirement for me as a principal applicant and it was included in the papers i sent the sponsor and along with his papers she sent them to Mississauga.

So you are referring to that photocopy that is already sent ? Or do they require one more ?

More, it really is frustrating that Rome Office says 20 months when they don't even require a passport. London is 6-7, the whole of Europe around 8, Rome is 12....

so up until a not so long time ago they required passport even from citizens of visa-exempt countries ?
