To me it seems a technical glitch, its too early and random to have this status.

"Hi All,

It seems that one of the guys who applied in February 2013 received a rejection one week after receiving an AOR. The rejection was based on not having 12 months of full time experience. What was most surprising was that he was rejected by CPC-Sydney. This type of rejection usually happens at CPP-Ottawa, and doesn't come till 9 or 10 months have passed.

This may be a one off, but could also indicate a change in processing. Most rejections are based on the eligibility criteria, so I have always wondered whether it was possible for CIC to assess eligibility earlier than the 9-10 months they take currently. It seems this particular application moved from CIO-Sydney to CPC-Sydney enroute to CPP-Ottawa."

The facts seem to speak otherwise. Sydney haven't just done the completeness check and sent the AOR, they have started processing the applicants application!

That's odd... Below is from CIC website (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/contact_us/offices/canada.asp#case)

CPC-Sydney

CPC-Sydney processes applications for:

permanent resident cards (new and renewals); and
citizenship (applying, renouncing, revoking and resuming).

If it is true that the applications that are in process are at Sydney and the ones that say application received are at Ottawa, I wonder how they are deciding which goes where. Seems quite random right now. But it's clear that some applicants are getting processed faster than others by the couple of rejections we've had so far.

exactly

wonder how do they decide which application to start processing in Sydney, if we go with the Feb and March' 13 trends, its quite random...
1. not according to 1st apply 1st process basis at all.
2. not according to having all documents sent with application: from mumbai has sent everything; Aquearo and myself still had to send some more documents when we saw "in process" status (if I am not wrong from mumbai???)

When CPP-O also started processing CEC applicants in 2011, initially there was no official communication on CIC website for this. That time CPP-O website was still showing that it's processing family class category while the CEC applicants started getting emails from CPP-O. So, initially, there was confusion among applicants of 2011 similar to what's happening now for Sydeny centre.

Based on that and considering 1 rejection that came from CPC-Sydney, they are for sure processing the applications in Sydney.

They are definitely doing more than the completeness check at sydney - or so it seems!
