There is definitely no lottery system in CEC. I do understand that some things what CIC does, at times on case to case basis, defies logic.
But it is not the correct understanding that a Feb / March 2013 application with AOR issued recently, is 'in process' (on a faster track) while all applicants since Sept are still in 'Application Recd' mode.
Not to scare anyone. Pretty sure with my experience, this is either an error in CIC (system / manual) or the application is still hung up at CIO for unknown reasons. I do hope the best for you guys.

It depends how processing is occurring. As you may be aware, when cpp-o came into being in 2011 those applications were processed much faster than those who had applied before hand. However with the closure of us visa offices, Ottawa now has a back log.

There is a good chance that will all the changes, and if Sydney are processing, that these applications could be processed far quicker than those at Ottawa.

However, it's all speculation.

Agree with you. But in that case, CIO would process a bunch of applications at their centre and not just handpick 3-4 applications filed in the last 3 months. If not for a technical glitch, these applications are in for some special treatment, good or bad - only time will answer.

Andy, I have also heard from some lawyers that CIC also tries to process applications of highly skilled workers especially with NOC code 2171, 2173 since there seems to be a huge shortage for these resources. There was no way for me to verify the genuineness of this info against a government order but have seen some live examples of my friends.

I agree it's not random Andy but when cpp-o came into effect only some applications were processed by them while others were continued to be processed by buffalo. Ultimately, none of us know. Lets just wait and see.

I am not sure about the reality just just guessing that CIC usually runs PILOT program every year starting to make application processing faster eventually.

So I believe few applications are randomly picked to test in these PILOT program. However, these are lucky applications which can get processed in 6-8 months.. :-*

Just a thought.

Collecting data from the monthly tracker for the applicants whose status is changed to In process. From the below table it seems that all applicants are of different NOC code. Not aware of few yet as they were not updated in the monthly tracker.

NameAOR dateNOC CodeNOC Desc
waiting84Mar-52174 Computer programmers and interactive media developers
Rak81 March 21??
knadadb March 21??
Andreleiangel March 26 6242 Cook
Divine11 April 4??
godzilla April 42173 Software engineers and designers
Aquareo Apr 11??
from_mumbai Apr-102241 Electrical and electronics engineering technologists and technicians
Aquareo Apr-114011 University professors and lecturers

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/glossary.asp

The glossary defines "In Process" as: -

"When an application that has been sent to CIC has been opened, checked for completeness, and an employee has begun to process it (enter into the computer system, etc.)."

So I guess there is a chance that they are being processed, but also a chance that they have just started to enter the information onto the system? I guess only time will tell :(

Andy, jsm and other seniors: please suggest on below.

I had sent T4 and NOA for 2012 already with application. Awaiting AOR#. But meanwhile our company has issued an amended T4 for 2012 with an increase of just 120$ in taxable income . Asked us to re-efile before end of this month. So after getting notice of re-assessement:

(1) Do I need to send this and amended T4 by quoting AOR # ?

(2) If I must send, shall I email scanned copies or photo copies by Canadapost with a tracking # ?

Pls suggest.

Emailing copies of the new t4 and noa would be smart. Just provide an explanation with the email.

Pls suggest.

(1) Yes
(2) Email

I've just received my AOR today.... Party tonight!!! 8)

I got AOR today! whew! 8) Email was received at 5:36pm MST. They really work late!

Hi Andy2109,

The reply I got from them is:

Good Day,

Thank you for your email.

Please contact the Centralized Intake Office with regards to the attached office.

Please see the following email: CIO‑Sydney‑Search‑Enquiry @ cic.gc.ca.

Regards,

Case Processing Pilot - Ottawa

What I don't understand is if I have received AOR with UCI and Application number and my file is "in process", why would they tell me to submit this request to CIO? Any thoughts on this?
Hi Aquareo
Where did you send the additional document to be added to your file. Did you send them to CIO-Sydney and received any response?
I need to submit PCC India for my spouse and after reading your post, I mailed CPP-OTTAWA if I should send them my original certificate. I got same reply as you did, that my file is still with CIO and should enquire with them.
Let me know
Thanks

@pmpm:
I've sent my scanned docs by email to CIO Sydney. Haven't received any updates so far. Since you recently received your AOR, I would suggest waiting for a couple of weeks before mailing your PCC. You might know where your application is by then.
