There is no difference in processing LMIAs. LMIAs are issued on the basis that an employer cannot find a Canadian or PR for the job. The process is lengthy and time consuming and a 2-3 month time frame only happens to the very fortunate. Truth is processing times vary and people have waited in excess of 4 months for results.

I am still waiting Butterfly!! In seventh month now....

Hi everyone,

My name is Ambervy and I am a foreign worker as well. I have an employer who applied for my LMIA as a high skill worker (financial assistant) month ago. We didnt go through agency and very worried about the interview. Could some give me some clues about it please? Like after how long roughly they will normally call you? What kind of questions they gonna ask?

Thanks. It's been more than one month now.

Can we use same LMIA for work permit and PR under express entry or not??

The way I read this was that you can use an existing LMIA to go through express entry from TFW to PR.

I didn't see that it said it "had" to be a dual intent LMiA unless it was for someone who wasn't already in the country and you wanted them to be a TFW while they wait for PR decision then you would choose dual intent?

We're still waiiting on a lmia decision and I don't know if it's been applied for as dual intent so we hope to be able to use it for express entry either way

I'm not sure you get points for LMIA without a permanent job offer. Therefore if you are a TFW and your LMIA was for a temporary position, your employer has to make you an offer of permanent employment I think.

I know of only 2 people who have received LMIA for Alberta they were both in trucking both time frames were very different.

1 applied in June last year was approved in February. 2nd applied in October was approved December.

Both doing same Job same province. I really think it all comes down to how well the form was filled in and if they like the transition plan. I've heard of them sending back transition plans 2 or 3 times. Also a lot of the new lmia forms were changed and were sent back because the companies had the wrong form.

My employer applied for LMIA (NOC 6211)in oct 2014. SC charged him in dec 2014. After that they keep asking him additional documents. But no response yet. I wasn't expecting it to take that long. Has anyone applied for the same NOC ??
