Landed Immigrants

This is the situation: We would like to enter Canada as landed immigrants, come back to the UAE to work for three years and then return to Canada for good. Our two children will be going to college in India and we would like them to complete their undergraduate studies there and go for their Master's Programmes to Canada.

I have lots of questions but will start with three for now:

How long would we have to stay in Canada to complete all formalities before returning to the UAE?

What are the various formalities that must be completed so there are no complications when we return to Canada for good?

What can we do to ensure that our children will not face any problems getting into Canada as dependents after they finish their studies in India?

1. 15 minutes, you could leave directly after "landing" if you wished. AS you would not be working, you don't need a SIN, you aren't eligible for health care, and you could have your PR card sent to a friends address in Canada for forwarding.
2. To maintain your PR status you must remain in Canada for 2/5 years. So if you remained in the UAE for 3 years after landing, you could not leave Canada for even 1 day in the intervening 2 years.
3. Your children would have to meet the same standards, as you don't state where they are in their education.
