Does anyone know how long it takes until immigration starts the backround check ?

With our application it said not started even after we had our interview date then when he was approved it said completed.

Has anyone ever had an officer telling the interviewee that they would call if passport is needed? If so, how long after did they call for it? Hubby had interview and they weren't fully convinced of husband because of his past. )he doesn't have a record anywhere, we paid all fees etc. Wondering what's taking so long to make a decision? His status for PR is "Decison made" but there are no changes to the information in that file.

I seen it take up to 3 weeks for people to receive that call. Best of luck

Mail can take 3 weeks. With the holidays it can take longer.

So hubby got the package yesterday and unfortunately we were denied on the grounds that our relationship was not genuine after providing them with multiple forms of supporting documents. They also said that hubby did not bring any supporting documents to the interview but in the interview email that he got they just ask him to bring his travel documents.

My family is crushed but we have to move on. I will be appealing the decision made by KVO because it makes no sense to me.

I wanted to know: how do I go about doing this and do I need to get a lawyer? How long will this process take?

Wow. My heart breaks for you. I know previous people hired a lawyer. I personally think you should contact a lawyer and see what they think then make a decision on hiring them.

So sorry to hear - can only imagine how you feel - but as hard as it is glad to note that you're moving on to take steps to appeal. Trust GOD - all in HIS time - I know you want him home now but trust GODs timing.

Yes contact an immigration lawyer/consultant who can draft and handle your appeal - they know how best to handle-

Hubby had his interview on Tuesday and did not get visa on spot. He was told that they would contact him in 2 weeks time.

Now I am nervous especially after reading a few of the most recent post.

The puzzling thing is that he said they didn't ask him any questions about us or the relationship. He said they were more concerned with getting the police check and medical for his son

The only things that he said they asked was how old our daughter is?...if he purchased his ticket already? ( No we dI'd not)..is he planning on bringing his son to Canada later on? ....and if he had any questions or concerns?

He said that after looking over our pictures and whatsapp convo and tango history they returned all those and his passport. They kept police check and sons medical.

Don't know what to think...****deeeeeep sigh****

Man that just sucks ...but keep the faith ..our interview was suppose to be today but got pushed until the new year ...I keep having nightmares that my husband heard wrong and it really was suppose to be today ??? Nope no contact yet! I am beyond puzzlefor as to how they didn't approve my husband on spot. We have a 9 month old baby together...had a fairly large wedding with his and my family and friends.... we have been together 3 years now. And have pictures and documents to prove it. My family is saying to just wait and have faith.
.that they may have reach some sort of quota for 2016. So let's see.

Smh it's very crazy Atleast they should have said why they are hold back application till few weeks. Weather it's just to recheck an reconsider f they have thoughts but let's hope for the best.
Also I notice they take some persons passport , whatSapp document and tango while some don't it's just very weird.
