Hi there, no… nothing yet. I only had one update in july 2025 when the prohibition that was completed went back to in progress. So now both background and prohibition are in progress. I was never asked for fingerprints. I see in other forums people from 2023 still stuck. :/
I was in the same boat background changed from completed to in progress last year july 25,2025 and nothing till i send them an email citing some Supreme Court ruling and asking that my application be moved from on hold three days later i got a reply my application has been put back in queue waiting to be scheduled for citizenship interview and exactly 7 days todsy i got a ghost update so i will advise you to request for gcms notes it tells you exactly why then from there you can write an email or webform to get your application moved but know that this is a 50-50 chance some officers may ignore depending on your case also this is not a legal advice ✌

Legal Note: Pursuant to Kanthasamy v. Canada (Citizenship and Immigration), 2015 SCC 61, the Citizenship Act must be interpreted broadly to ensure fairness. The documentation provided clearly establishes lawful presence under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. There is no discretion to discount these days. The Residence eligibility is fully satisfied.

2. Procedural Concern: Expiration of Criminality Clearance (GCMS Page 13)

I note with concern that my CIT RCMP Screening Validity Date expired on 2025/09/18. The file has been "On Hold" for nearly 10 months since the Residence assessment was due.

Given that the only outstanding step is the verification of the evidence attached herein, further delay will necessitate a de novo fingerprint request and a new clearance validity period. This would prejudice the Applicant and run contrary to the principles of procedural fairness and efficient administration outlined in Vavilov.

I will not advise you use same if your situation is not the same as mine so to be on the safer side

1. Request GCMs notes because that will tell you exactly why your file is on hold and i can give you the prompt you can use to get AI to get you the necessary federal case study to use based on your GCMS notes

✌

Your best bet always to request GCMS notes because it gives you the reason why your account is on hold then you can take it from there trying to split will create more problems for you because then your application becomes a non-routine application that does not fall under the writ of mandamus as the delay will be caused by you requesting the split instead

Hi friends,
I have started a common thread for all of us waiting for more than a year to get together and share our timelines and progress.
Please add and update your case in the table in that thread.

On September 24, 2026, I received an invitation to my in person Citizenship Oath Ceremony scheduled for the end of October, 2026, in Calgary.

Prior to applying for citizenship, as PR I lived across five Canadian provinces and travelled abroad frequently roughly every three to four months. Even after applying, I spent substantial time outside Canada due to international work contracts. Despite this extensive travel history both before and during processing, my file never triggered fingerprint requests or an in person interview.

Over the entire processing period, I submitted only two webform inquiries to check my file's status and never phoned IRCC directly. In autumn 2025, local MP's office in Calgary inquired on my behalf and confirmed that IRCC had flagged my application as "non routine."

After IRCC's prolonged inaction (since December 25, 2024), I submitted a formal 30 day Demand Letter (4 pages long) to IRCC in August 2026 requiring them to either finalize my application or provide formal justification for the unreasonable delay, failing which I would commence an application for an Order of Mandamus in the Federal Court. I had already lined up a good lawyer and was ready to pull the trigger on Mandamus in early October, but the ceremony invite landed in my inbox just in time.

Primary office: Vancouver
Secondary office: Sidney

Application Timeline

  • Application Type: Online (Single Applicant)
  • Location: Calgary
  • Physical Presence Claimed: 1,102 days

  • Language Requirement Completed: November 13, 2024
  • Submission of Complete Passport Copies & Certified Translations: November 13, 2024

  • Status Stagnation: No updates from December 25, 2024, until Demand Letter
  • Oath Ceremony Invitation Issued: September 24, 2026

Best of luck and much patience to all future Canadians. God bless Canada!
