Thank you for sharing your status. Have you tried calling them?

My application showed up on Ecas today (October 23):

---------------------------------------------------------
We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on July 11, 2013.

We sent you a letter acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canada on July 11, 2013. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

We started processing your application on October 18, 2013.
----------------------------------------------------------

I hope that it's an error that they sent our letter of acknowledgement on July 11 (since we have not received yet anything), and it was actually sent on October 18. It took them 99 days to start processing our application.

Wow man, you applied on July 11 and they started processing on Oct 18.

How come a person who applied on Aug 7 had his application processed on Oct 17.

That's almost one month later and a day in advance of you.

Well what can we say.

If I had to guess, I would say it's because mine is a family application with tons of extra documents. A colleague of mine sent his application just days before I sent ours. But his was individual and he received his acknowledgement letter about three weeks ago.

Hmm nice analogy...

Probably that might be the case.

Question for you. You said tons of extra documents...Did you send anything additional with your application apart from what was asked with the application.

I wonder that might be the cause of the delay for some individuals.

Yes, for example, our children's report cards from their schools (I guess this is needed to confirm that they are in Canada).

Thank you for sharing your details. I am quite frustrated by CIC being incapable tracking sensitive personal information (application contains ID and other personal data), at least behaving if that was the case.

Called them today. An agent upon hearing that I applied in July started to tell me that my application is either returned or lost.
Then he checked their database and found my application. He couldn't believe it was not there three days ago. ;D
It is not yet in ecas, but that's doesn't matter...

Thank you guys for sharing your status, saved my time and money.

My wife's application status:

Received: July 17, 2013.
Started processing: September 30, 2013.

We have just received the AOR and the Discover Canada Study Guide.

I guess you are right. i (May applicant) appended additional documents in my application package. My e CAS was initiated one month after compared to other applicants in the same month except two fellows.
