Dear All

On the Job reference letter, it is said that i report to my Manager in India and it she(My Manager) who has signed the letter. Is that OK?

Regards

That is OK, but it is not enough. You will also need a letter from a supervisor/manager at the Canadian branch or client company where you are physically present. Some one in Canada has to attest to the job duties you perform in Canada.

Reporting Manager should be on-site and not in India...

@JES_ON
Along with the job reference letter, i am planning to ask my client to give a similar letter. Would these 2 be sufficient?

You really want the letter from a supervisor/manager of the Canadian division - along with a client. As part of ICT's you are supposed to be controlled by the Canadian division...

Correct, one of my friend was deported from USA on L1 as he mentioned during immigration that he reports to Manager, who seats in India office.

Thanks. But i really dont report to any one in Canada. What option do i have. The letter is on the office letter pad(canada)

As simple as that, you need to get a letter from your Canadian Supervisor with his / her contact address, phone number and email ID which can be verifiable by CIC. Let's get practical. Please don't take me otherwise but very difficult to digest the fact that working for an Indian company, you do not report to anyone in Canada. Please elaborate on what is the work you do.

Depending on what the client letter says regarding your assignment with them, it may be enough.

People...

I just read thru this whole thread and most of them seems applicable to me as well...but in my case...my manager whom i report to ( my indian manager) is currently working along with me in Canada... So the client reference letter is required in that case? In case the client letter is needed..should it be in the same format as my employer reference letter? Companys name in letter pad and also...please help.

Steve_Jones,
There is no need to submit two letters. Just the Reference letter from Employer (your Supervisor in Canad) will suffice. It is only in some cases (where your primary duties indicate that you work for a client) that CIC asks for Client Reference letter.
Client Reference letter need not be in the same format as that of your Employer but the Duties & Responsibilities must definitely align.

Andy

The issue is that the supersvisor from canada is not agreeing to give a reference letter but my indian manager who is in canada will provide the refererence letter. Thats the issue i have. Please suggest.

Okay. Let's not make this too complicated.

Your manager is in Canada - so that isn't a problem... If he/she were in India, I believe this would be an issue. If he/she is willing to write you the ref. and can provide it on headed notepaper etc with Canadian info, this is ideal.

Next: do you work in your employers office or is all your work conducted at a clients site? If it's at a clients site and the ref. letter indicates this, you will also need a letter from the client.

Steve_Jones,

This makes more sense. So you do have a Supervisor in Canada but he/she is not ready to give a Reference letter. You have two options.

(1) It is very straight - convince your Supervisor that this is no sponsorship but just a letter listing your duties and responsibilities. Get one and submit.

(2) Alternatively get a letter from your Supervisor (in India) on a Canadian info letterhead. You will have to supplement this with a letter from the client (if you work for one). Do note that CIC can verify your employment and authenticity of the letter so exercise caution to not mention your Supervisor's Indian address on the letter. Unlike Cricket, there is no benefit of doubt in the PR process. If the VO has any doubt on your employment, it can be straight reject.

Thanks Andy..

Since my indian supervisor works along with me here in canada ... his address signature will be as same as that of canadian supervisor (as long as he is in canada) here... the only this his email id wil be show as IN.COM insread of CA.COM...so i should still ok i suppose.?

Also for the client letter ... can it be a simple electronic typed one withe the clients siganture if i need to get one?
