Is LMO required for a spouse of international student

HI,
I am an international student from India doing my masters in University. I have a study permit valid upto December 2015. My husband wants to apply for a open work permit does he need a LMO to apply?

Obviously not. He can apply for an open work permit along with proof of relationship and details of your Study permit.

However, it is a good idea to provide proof of funds to support his stay initially for some time since a student on his own is not able to support a spouse and he does not have a job confirmation yet.

Also, if by any chance he is able to get a job already before applying for permit, that would be a major plus for his application. Again he does not require the employer to get an LMO. However, his permit would be tied to yours and would expire at the same time.

I remember reading it some where on CIC website that for each additional person other than principal applicant, it is 6k CAD which is enough funds for a year.
