Some people are able to check their status on line within 2-3 months after sending in the application but some aren't. If you have a Client ID from a previous visa extension you may be able to use it.
Even for those who can see their status online it doesn't say much besides IN PROCESS, when you reach the 9 months mark then you can expect something more meaningful so don't worry ... you aren't missing much

What does the whole timeline say? Congratulations you should be getting AIP and if you have not heard from them in 3 weeks call them and they will send out another (as it may be lost).

It's weird, we received the letter with our appointment date on Wednesday. It was dated Nov 10 from our local office (Etobicoke). Yesterday when I got home, I had 2 more letters from CIC. They were also dated Nov 10, but from Vegrevilee. It was AIP saying that our local office would be getting in touch with us. So it looks like the letters came in reverse order.

In any way, we are super excited, and counting down to Nov 30th!!

Congratuations Teec!! That is great news....I wonder what makes the difference in the length of time for background and security checks. Have you traveled a lot at all? I have been to quite a few countries so I am wondering if this is a "bad" thing in their eyes....

My husband has not done any traveling. He only lived in Portugal before he came to Canada.

As long as it says IN PROCESS before you go into this 2nd screen then it looks like you have AIP, however you could also have the whole thing like our friend TEEC got aproved right off the bat. I have everything except for that part about them sending me a letter. You should have that letter by Wednesday or Thursday. Please let us know what it says when it comes!

Yes, fingers crossed she can acommodate the trip!!!.

Oh yeah she can.. but her parents have to book the package in advance. I guess we will see. Hope fully it will be done before that.

Buddy you are about to get your PR.

But if this is AIP, and you applied for OWP together with your initial application then you will receive your work permit along with the letter. What is your local CIC office

Oh well you do have PR. That's the same thing that TEEC got. And once it says decision made on the first screen then you basically should get the letter thats tells you your interview date. Along with OWP until then....Thats weird how all the FEB folks are getting straight approvals and I applied in DEC and have to wait....Which country are you from may I ask????

I am from Lahore, Pakistan.

And my application was pretty straight forward we didn't do anything fancy. Only attached the documents from the document check list. I didn't add anything other than that (it was always wise to keep the application simple IMO), and yea i have lived 8 years in UK i went to University there and worked there too. So my police certificate were from UK and Pakistan.

I can't wait to get a job and start working.
