I see nobody wasted the time to update the ecas website this week. Must be hard being those poor poor folks at CIC can't even find 2 minutes to give thousands of people one second of happiness while they wait to see if the date changes ....

My life is going from bad to pathetic with this waiting game *drops forehead onto the desk* All I want is to go to work. I don't give a hoot if they take 10 years after they give me AIP to complete the application LOL

So computergeek, if one get AIP do one still pay international fees or can one apply for student loan?
This is what was mentioned to me by one of the members here:

Study Permits

The Ontario Government has established a policy of higher tuition fees for international students studying in Ontario on Study Permits. The policy came into effect as of January 1, 1977 and was revised in June 1996. Beginning with the 1996/97 academic year, the higher fees apply to all students, except for those who qualify for exemption under one of the following categories:

A citizen of Canada within the meaning of the Citizenship Act, or a person registered as an Indian1 within the meaning of the Indian Act;
a person who is the dependent2 of a Canadian citizen.
A Permanent Resident within the meaning of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act:
a person who is the dependent2 of a permanent resident of Canada.
a person who has been granted "permanent resident" status and has not had that status revoked; or
a person who has been approved “in principle” for permanent resident status in Canada. Evidence of this is a letter which confirms that Citizenship and Immigration Canada has determined that he/she is eligible for immigration to Canada or meets the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent resident status in Canada. Such letters must be dated prior to the enrolment count date and presented prior to the enrolment report due date (Winter - February 1, Spring - June 30, Fall - November 1).

From this it means it maybe possible to study with AIP while still waiting for DM!

I have my landing date - September 20th! :D

I have a question though - the letter says I need proof of income for my and my sponsor - would a T4 or something along those lines be acceptable? To be honest I was surprised they asked for this, since I thought income was irrelevant for spousal/common-law sponsorship.

No AIP here, and I'll hit the 10-month mark on Friday of this coming week. Heck, they didn't even update the website this week. Still reporting as of August 7.

I remember former immigration minister announced cic decreased workflow by 40%.
It looked like true for a few month.
but it became same finally.
I think cic slowed down to keep their jobs.
It will keep going like this even though immigration department uses state of the art & time saving methods.

OWP is available to inland sponsorship only. Outland cannot get this perk.
It depends on each applicants. We didn't bother applying for OWP on account why pay 150 when my wife don't plan to work, looking after 2 kids while waiting for PR. No point in wasting the money. So everyone is different. Everyone applied in inaldn aponsorship can apply for OWP but are you willing to pay 150 for it and is it justified? In our case, no.

Those that were on valid regular work visa permit prior to sponsorship will be on "implied work visa status" so no need for them to apply for OWP as their current work permit is valid until PR is done. So they can continue working. Although I don't know post graduate work visa applies here. Once visa expired, that's it.

Hey guys, long time.... We haven't heard anything at all!!! Waiting patiently, but I have a question n I wanted clarification on this.

My husband currently has a OWP, he renewed his last year n it's good for a year. It's expiring this October, our spousal sponsorship was sent Dec 2012, and we received AOR in Jan 2013. My question is, does he need to reapply again for another OWP or does he have "implied work visa status" ?!?!

Much appreciated, thanks

Congrats Danteryu on getting your landing letter. It is unusual for the letter to provide proof of income as it is the first I have heard since I joined the forum. The only reason I can see this happening is if the sponsor didn't provide proof of income with the application. Did the sponsor submit Option C printouts, along with all income slips, T4's and the like? If he/she did not submit it, then I can see this happening. Proof of income is not irrelevant per say for spousal sponsorship. The sponsor does need to provide proof of income, regardless of how much, the sponsor could be on minimum wage or making 6 figures. Reason being is that they want to make sure that the sponsor has the means to support you, make sure you will not resort to government assistance, ie: welfare. The only time income become relevant is the level of income when it comes to sponsoring people outside the spouse/dependents, such as sponsoring parents/grandparents/brothers/sisters if they are under 18.

I have you updated on the timesheet. Your end is soon coming to an end. Good luck.

I understand the frustration and disappointment! Heck, I'm only hitting the 8 month mark and going insane. I really hope they stay true to the 10 month stage 1 timeline and you receive good news shortly!
