Congrats on getting your PR card. Its actually 72 days to be more accurate assuming you landed june 5th. But who's counting.

But you are right its 70 days if you take away 2 days for canada days and civic day off. The spreadsheets doesn't consider holidays into the equations. But in the end, it took 72 days to reach you from the time you landed.

But, as you know, CIC has been busy for processing applications of October for a long time. I really understand your discouragement. This situation is not comfortable, but our day is coming! Try to be positive!

As long as ur visa is still valid u shud b fine. i ave left the country 3 times since my aip with no issues returning and am not from a visa exempt country

Were you removed from Canada three years ago? Or did you resolve your overstay by leaving voluntarily and without any requirement that you do so by CBSA?

You will probably be permitted to return to Canada as you have legal status in Canada now. But there is always the possibility that an officer will refuse you re-entry. It's not likely but it is not an impossible event.

Like computergeek mentioned above. It is not likely that you would be denied re-entry. However the fact remained that you overstayed your visa. That may be a small flag for an agent to reconsider you back in. Just because you have a TRV visa doesn't mean you the right to enter Canada. Since Canada doesn't have an exit control 3 years ago, Canada doesn't really know when you actually left Canada. So there is a good chance that the agent may not even know that you overstayed.

I was wondering if you could help , my husbands wants to do some course while waiting for AIP. Can he apply for a study permit? or is it the same as a work permit that he can only apply after AIP. Any help is much appreciated.

He only needs a study permit if the course is part of a degree or certificate program or lasting more than six months. For classes of shorter duration, no study permit is necessary.

You do understand there's no prohibition against applying for a work permit prior to AIP? The problem for most people is that they cannot get such a permit because they do not have an employer willing to obtain an LMO.

Study permits similarly require that the student be able to demonstrate acceptance at an educational institution and the ability to afford to live in Canada and attend school. Many people forego the study permit because they do not wish to pay the international student fees, which are much higher than the resident fees.

Your prior overstay has been rectified by the inland sponsorship. You are now in status - this is one of the unique parts of the inland sponsorship route, as you can be out of status when you apply. The process itself returns you to status.

But whether or not you are permitted to return to Canada is up to the officer. Generally it won't be an issue, but there is a small risk.

You still pay international fees until you are a permanent resident. You would need to speak with the educational institution to find out what loans are available as this can actually be a bit more complex than a yes/no answer.
