I suppose the word before the blank was "add"
I think "beauty" would collocate with the verb "add" better than "restoration"
my answer was Beauty too! this is the only one I'm not sure about. It said advancement, however, beauty really works well for that blank.
Beauty .. Advancement.... Technology
add to the beauty! because It mentioned that, it's a successful device, though it needs some changes in future.....

I don't even remember it mentioned Tech!

I wrote "Wind Surfing" but I see "Windsurfing" as the correct spelling online. Will it be marked wrong?
Wind Surfing should be fine. Because, we're allowed to write 2 words. I have seen such questions for Seafood Sea Food Bookstore Book Store.
I also wrote Wind Surfing. It's really unfair if they considered it to be wrong.

I agree that beauty fits there. Before I heard the answer I thought that they will say 'better design'. Beauty is close to design, it's better fits the content. But I didn't hear beauty and heard only restoration that's why I wrote it.
In the final sentence of the listening, he said beauty, almost the last word :))
---------
The letter was INFORMAL
ex colleague! come on guys! How do you speak to your colleagues! You had to talk about your life!! You plan to visit and meet him again!

There's no such thing as Semi. I could be formal, but not with someone you're going to meet and talk about your personal life.
-------------
let's be flexible! To colleague might be formal, but if you're talking about some important project! When you talk about ordinary things; it should be informal! Imagine yourself at the workplace. How do you speak with your colleagues!

Unfortunately, there's such thing like semi formal in IELTS. I saw many examples of it.

There's but, it overlaps with Informal. Some people tend to memorize everything! It's not about 0 or 1.
You're best buddy--------> Very informal. Lot's of slangs
Your friend -------> Informal and friendly
your colleague whom you gonna meet-------> Friendly!!
Your Supervisor--------> Formal
President -------> Very Formal
-----
It's about tone! there's a whole gray area. Not just ON and OFF bottom:))

Furthermore, it was written, begin your letter with Dear..., Not with hello or hi!
Dear Jon!
Dear Anna :))
What's wrong with Dear?!
Almost majority of informal letters start with Dear ......
Just google: Informal IELTS letter and you'll find lots of Dear Dear Dear

Writing

Task 1: (Is this a informal or semi-formal letter – please reply)
Write a letter to your ex colleague that you are visiting his city. Also tell him that you would like to meet him/her.
In your letter mention:
—share your plan while you’ll be there
—to make necessary arrangements

Task 2:
In most countries, Weddings are bigger and more expensive nowadays than in the past.
Why is this the case?
Is it a negative or positive development?
----------
Our listening answers are 100% identical!
40) I chose beauty
for that phone number I wrote 5 three times ...xxxx 555 xxx
--------------
My reading though:
Question 1: FALSE
19: Complaints

and for SHOPPERS I CHOICE the paragraph in the SECOND PAGE
For potentinal tracking I chose H ( final paragraph)
NEVER CHOSE A

So we have 2-3 different answers.
-----------
My letter: Informal/friendly
Dear XXXX

Hope to see you soon!
------------
Good Luck!

by the way ,...

Dear Jon!
Dear Anna :))
What's wrong with Dear?!
Almost majority of informal letters start with Dear ......
Just google: Informal IELTS letter and you'll find lots of Dear Dear Dear
Google informal letter and you ll see loads of hi..
About your previous message, yes I agree there s a special tone.
Butin semi formal letter to your colleague you won't write what's up dude. As well as dear Mr. Switch - too formal.
For this task you should use something in between, more relaxed tone.
As I wrote before, there's no info wherever it was your colleague who was your best friend from school times.
I'm certain that for marks 5.0-6.0 we can forget about semi formal.
But for those who want 7.0 and more it's crucial to be able to write semi formal.

1-10 and 30-40, I have the same answers with 40-restoration
11-15 I have A B A C A
Summary -------> at the end
Layout -------> Simple Language
xxxx--------> put after another section
---------
my 11-15-----> BB ACA ---
11 was tricky! because it first said you have to teach people in Africa. and then said, don't worry you will be trained about the necessary skills! That questions was a big blow for many test takers.
