Hi all,

My wife (and sponsor) received an email on March 17 stating she was approved for sponsorship, but when we log into ECAS the Sponsorship Application Status says "In Process" and the last update was March 1st (3. We started processing your application...)

Is this normal? How often is ECAS updated? I read somewhere that it is updated on Tuesdays, but there were no changes yesterday.

It's not as reliable as it may seem. Usually it's updated every Tuesday, but you would be better off ordering your notes if you really want to see what is going on.

Don't worry, that's entirely normal!

In theory from what I've seen here ECAS updates every Tuesday but in reality CIC updates ECAS when they like, if they like, if at all, as many/few times a week as they like. ECAS might update and warn you they've sent correspondence or made a decision or it might just turn up in your mail as a surprise. Lots of people try not to check it too frequently or believe what it says because ECAS isn't a great indicator of where your application is really at.

After a few months you could request your notes. That would give you more information but there won't be much information there yet because they only just started processing.

Good luck!

Hi

Can you please tell me how long it took your sponsor to get approved? I've applied 31 days ago and Still haven't heard anything from CIC. I know they normally send AOR or something, month after received the paperwork.

Many thnaks

Sometimes CIC don't send AOR (I didn't get one). It's annoying but it sometimes happens.

If you sent your application by courier then you will know if it got there because you can track and see that somebody signed for it.

The current processing time for SA is 47 days.

where or how to request notes?

What's the ideal wait time in months before someone can order the GCMS notes?

You can request notes any time you like and as many times as you like. But from what I've read from more experienced members of the forum there will not be a lot of useful information there if you order them soon after submitting or getting SA. Things get added to notes when VOs do things and if a file only just started processing then there won't be much info there.

I don't know if there is an ideal time but I've seen suggestions on the forum before of waiting a few months before ordering. As I said you can order them whenever you like and it won't slow down your app so long as you choose only electronically kept notes. I just personally wouldn't bother doing it for a while. Up to you - good luck with your app! :)
