Help! Study permit application over 6 weeks in New York visa office

Dear all,
I'm in panic and I need some help now.
I send to them my application on October 6, and the tracking information showed that they received it on October 9. It's been 6 weeks (42 days) since they received it but I haven't heard anything back from them yet. I emailed them 3 times and they didn't reply me. Is it normal? How can I know what's going on with my application?? I hope they don't lose my passport!! They really need to be more efficient!!!

Same here. I applied for visit visa, and tracking record indicate delivered on oct 18. I emailed twice and left a voice msg, no response and no idea what's honing on at all. I am also very worried, never experienced such slow visitor visa application ever!
