Not sure if it can help with others, but it does unblock my case.
1) I remove all the education (college / un-degree / bachelor degree) except for the master one. I think probably anything under postgraduate might need to put as unemployed.
2) add those education (college / un-degree / bachelor degree) under the work experience as unemployed.
3) the master degree period should also include as the unemployed (I surprised but it did work)
4) It's ok to have on-going for the current job.

For example,
2014/6 - 2016/9 : bachelor
2016/10-2017/12: working
2018/1 - 2018/12: master
2019/1 - ongoing: working

So this case will input as:
-------------------------------
Education section:
- 2018/1 - 2018/12: master degree

Working
2013/1-2016/9: unemployed (covered for bachelor period)
2016/10-2017/12: working
2018/1-2018/12: unemployed (covered for master degree, I keep both and no complain)
2019/1-ongoing: working
-------------------------------

It's not the guidance, I just keep trying with different case from breakdown the big block (2013-2023) to different part and found out this input work. Hope it can hep with others, since I also have bad time on unblocking previously.
Hi
I am stuck with the same issue too. But doesn't putting your undergrad as unemployed mean you are putting incorrect information? is it alright ?

Hi all,

I have faced the same issue and it is resolved now.

After making sure there are no gaps in the 10 year employement history and unchecking the ongoing Status and entering 2023 July (Current month) in the current employement field, it still shown the same error.

Then I have reentered the same details after not saving the data, then it worked.

Not sure how but it worked in my case.
But doesn't putting this way mean you are putting incorrect information? is it alright ? I am just asking as a doubt.. Since I am stuck with the same issue too

My issue is resolved. I basically removed my bachelor's degree which was from August 2010 to May 2014 from the education history and then put it under work experience as unemployed from January 2013 to May 2014. That allowed me to put 2014 June to 2016 July for additional work done while I wasn't in school, and then from 2016 August to "ongoing" as unemployed. It worked!!
I am stuck with the same issue too. But doesn't putting your undergrad as unemployed mean you are putting incorrect information? is it alright ?

Hello guys, please help! I am stuck in my application, I have followed all the instructions about employment details and the gaps arrangement, but this is the message I keep receiving:
You must complete this entire section to be able to save your details
You can only save your information after you answer all the questions below and fill in each table. If you leave the application without providing all these details
  • your information will not be saved
  • you will have to input the information again when you return

Please, help me.
Hi, did your error get resolved?

  • Error:
Give details of all your employment and activities for the past 10 years.- You're missing details for the past 10 years. Review your entries and make sure you included something for all times periods in the past 10 years. Do not include any entries that you already put for post-secondary education or military/police force (if that was your only occupation at that time).
    • If you were unemployed, incarcerated, or retired in the last 10 years, select that option from the menu and tell us for how long.
    • If you were a student at a secondary school, select unemployed.
  • You can't save or continue to the next questions until you include these details.
Hey everyone here, I have been filling this Visitor visa new IRCC portal and displays that error after adding on work experience. I need your help please
If you have no work Experience, then you should minus your date of birth from the year you are applying and state from that date till the present date. Also choose unemployed from the drop down list and complete the different infos as required, then save it. It will work

There should not be any gaps in the tenure and if the 10 year overlaps your education time mention that as unemployed
If you have no work Experience, then you should minus your date of birth from the year you are applying and state from that date till the present date. Also choose unemployed from the drop down list and complete the different infos as required, then save it. It will work

Chewed my head out while applying for mom but here's what worked: Application date is Dec-2023

Education activity: 2019-09 to 2022-09
Mom went back to school and got her Bachelor's

Work activity
2006-01 to 2019-08: Homemaker
2019-09 to 2022-09: Unemployed
2022-10 to ongoing: Homemaker

Two points:
- The months should not overlap
- Bachelors in education needs to be reflected as unemployed in work activities. For whatever reason, it looks like the IRCC system doesn't count bachelor's as "post-secondary school". I tested and if i select masters then it goes through without needing the unemployed work activity

Hello, I'm having the same problem. My current job is on going, if I put an end date just to get past this page, won't that be misleading?
The problem isn't about ongoing vs a date as indicated by my post. Can you put down the detail of how you have setup education and work activities and I can give you my thoughts

Hmm, so you've got no date overlaps, but what have you put in the education activity vs the work activity section?

I'm gonna assume 1, 3 and 8 are in the education activity section and the rest are in work activity..

Try duplicating 1's education activity duration into work activity as unemployed. This is what worked for me (check my post a few messages above). I found that it doesn't count bachelor's as "post-secondary" education and you need to show that period as "unemployed".
