Once he gets his Visa, he can come to Canada at anytime, however, it does have an expiry.

You will have to wait for them to call him about his Visa - that's often how it goes after having the interview. I'm surprised they didn't make you pay the fee before they got that far.

Hi there, my husband had his interview Jan. 26/15 & it was successful. That same day I paid the Permanent Residence Fee (I'm not keen on giving anyone $490 before I have to). I have emailed both the Havana & Mississauga offices to find out when he can pick up his Visa - still no answer? Any thoughts?
Also, what are the next steps once he gets his Visa, how soon can we make plans to get him to Canada?

1. After my husband and I get married, do we have to take our marriage certificate to be legalized in Havana? How can I leave Cuba with our marriage certificate at the end of my trip? I'm reading different information and my fiancé is hearing different information in Cuba. We're getting married in Holguin but we'll fly to Havana to avoid delays.

2. What documents from my fiancé do I bring back to Canada? Original birth certificate, Police certificate and medical examination?
What's the best process in obtaining the medical examination? How long does it expire? I've read 3-6 months. Can you get it from any city?

When I got married last year the paperwork was processed by the Notaria Nacional in the town that we were married. This was the same person who performed our ceremony. They completed all the paperwork and it was ready for pickup a few weeks later. Once the paperwork was ready my husband sent the paperwork to Canada so that I could file. In addition to the marriage licence, my husband sent me his completed medical and police record check. All in all it took a few weeks for everything to be ready.

You will need the original birth certificate, medical completion form - medical report is sent directly, police certificate, photos, copy of ID card and marriage certificate. To complete the medical your fiancé needs to call the office in Havana to schedule. It usually take a month to get an appointment. A really helpful document is IMM 3909.

I hope this is helpful, and I am sure you have taken care of all the wedding paperwork that needs to be done in Canada with the Cuban Consulate.

He went in at 8:30 and called me at around 12 to tell me he had to go back at 2pm. He had to re-do the visa pictures because they weren't exactly the right size but all went well... he called me a little while ago to tell me that he got his VISA... * SIGH....

1. I never left Cuba with my marriage certificate. I got married in Varadero and my husband had to wait a couple weeks before being able to pick it up. He then had to take the document to Havana to be legalized. He sent it back to me in Canada with a friend of ours.

2. You need to schedule the medical exam as soon as possible as it takes about a month to get in. The exam is good for 1 year. If your husband has kids, they need to get an exam too even if they are not coming with him. You will need original copies of his birth certificate (translated to English), police certificate (translated to English) and your marriage certificate (translated to English). You will also need the original copy of the medical report form IMM 1017B that the doctor gives to you husband after the exam is complete.

i'm trying to remember. I'm not sure if he needs a ticket. I usually just give my passport, and they have the info in the system. does he know someone with email? U could print it to pdf and email it to him. Nice problem to have now, isn't it
