Quebec’s immigration minister says the government will drop its permanent immigration targets to as low as 25,000 people per year.
Jean-François Roberge says the government will study three scenarios of 25,000, 35,000 and 45,000 immigrants per year.
Currently, Quebec is projected to accept about 64,000 permanent immigrants in 2025.
But Roberge says that needs to go down due to rising unemployment, increasing strain on housing and the challenges of protecting the French language.

Just wanted to share that someone I know got their application approved after a reconsideration request .

On June 6, 2025 a representative of the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) reviewed your application. We are pleased to inform you that you meet the conditions (eligibility requirements), and your application has been approved in principle.
Given the job market I would not leave a job unless you have secured one in another province. The cost of housing is also much lower in Quebec than in many parts of Canada so that also needs to be considered. In some parts of Canada the vacancy rates are also very low so securing housing can be difficult. Although you may be able secure PR faster you also have to consider non-PR/protected issues when considering a move.
Hinduism is a very big problem in India, and we SIkhs are often the victim. We are constantly living in fear.
