The applicant can't do anything to start the security checks; however if it's unreasonably been delayed you can engage the federal court in Canada using a writ of mandamus. You can read about security screening process here. Applicants in/from certain professions/countries can possibly undergo enhanced screening which can can take longer.

RFV (Ready for Visa), which means that the application is ready for the PR visa to be issued.

I got my GCMS Notes today. I submiited my paper-pased application on October 2019, dis my biometrics in December 2019 and passed my medical February 2020. Last updated was on March 10th but the status is still open/in progress. My elibility and background check was passed. I am nervous why they haven't made the decision a month after I passed my medical exam. And it says there Collection of passport: in progress.

Does that mean it's already for approval?
Please help me understand what it means. I've been waiting for 9months now.

Have you passed security, if yes then i believe you should be expecting PPR Letter. You can check the comments under note 1 and outgoing correspondence 1.

Hello,

Mostly likely but it is not confirmed. I will suggest you check the notes under facts finding and see what is the reason for the recommendation. And if possible provide additional supporting documents based on the notes.

Putting this question out to anyone/everyone who received their GCMS notes with the officer's comments visible (i.e., not redacted):
When you originally requested the notes through ATIP, did you specify that they include the officer's comments?

I've been told that if you don't make that specific request, they will redact officer's comments... and that's basically the part we're most interested in at this point. I didn't know that before I requested though, and I sent in an additional e-mail to make this request (citing the temporary tracking number they gave me), but I get the feeling with how backlogged they are, it will probably be missed...
