1 It should be exactly 3 years ,not a single day missing.

So it will count exact 3 years (in day basic) since the day i submit? In my case i have 5 months of self employed, do I have to collect documents to prove it?

And when you mention about 'not a single day missing'. There would be some days between the jobs, do i have to explain it too?

In sumarry, i will look for documents ( reference letter) for last 3 years in day count as:

Jan 2019 - current (5 months): self employed
Oct 2018 - Jan 2019 (4 months): project manager
Apr 2017 - Oct 2018 (1 year 6 months): portfolio manager
Oct 2015 - Apr 2017 (9 months): financial analyst.

2. If you are claiming for 3 years ,they will check documents related to those only .
Not for entire decade. It is normally suggested to add the remaining in the personal history.( reference letters and other documents are only required for the 3 years you are claiming )

I found this link to do the CRS tool, under part 6 work experience, I found this question regarding last 10 years:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp

ii. In the last 10 years, how many total years of foreign skilled work experience do you have?

It must have been paid, full-time (or an equal amount in part-time), and in only one occupation (NOC skill type 0, A or B).

This is where I find this confusing. And it also says 'in only one occupation'. This makes me wonder again on how calculate my work ex.

Thank you.

For eligibility points, is it required for the work to be continuous after a year?
Check out the below link -

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/eligibility/federal-skilled-workers/six-selection-factors-federal-skilled-workers.html

Noc A or B or c
You can get points for the number of years you’ve spent doing full-time paid work ( it doesnt state that it should be in one company )

So multiple jobs can be claimed

Check out this line in the above link
You will need to identify the “NOC code” for each job that you want to include in your Express Entry profile.

"each job "

Hi James,

Really appreciate if you can help me to clear the '10 years' experience. As in the picture below, they actually mention about experience in the 10 years row. How is it different from the 3 years experience you said? You have any source about this 3 or 10 years exprerience requirement?

As you guide, I put 3 years or more in the answer.

This is a leverage given to applicants to add at their comfort .
Sometimes people have 10 years of experience in different companies ,but unable to get letters and required documents from some employers ..So,average they had considered as 3 yrs and more ,and they give maximum points for it.

The maximum points you get for foreign work experience is 3 years in the last 10 years.

- 1 or 2 years of foreign work experience:
- 13 (if IELTS is CLB 7 all modules, one or more under 9) or
- 25 (if IELTS is CLB 9 all modules)

- 3 years or more of foreign work experience:
- 25 (if IELTS is CLB 7 all modules, one or more under 9) or
- 50 (if IELTS is CLB 9 all modules)

Hi James,

I just check the official documents, and problems come. The details should be as:
1. Since 01 Feb 2019: self-employed.
2. Project management Specialist: 19 Sep 2018 - 31 Jan 2019: 134 days ~ 19 weeks
3. Portfolio management Executive: 08 May 2017 - 09 Sep 2018: 489 days ~ 69.86 weeks
4. Financial Analyst (NOC 1112): 01 Oct 2015 - 08 May 2017: 585 days ~ 83 weeks

As this calculation, I really need your help on these issues:
a. How would we calculate the work experience years? As I count per day above, do I have to sum them up and devide by 365 to have equivalent year?
b. Can I have your help on choosing NOC? I'm struggling with choosing NOC for job (2) and (3). I searched on this forum and found some people have same job and they chose NOC 4162 and 1112. Can you help me to fiture out which one is more appropriate? I'm thinking about trying to adapt ALL my experience to NOC 1112 since they are related to general finance, planning and analysis to some extent.
