If you are traveling back to Canada by personal vehicle (from the USA) you can use the COPR. If you are traveling by commercial transportation (bus, train, plane, etc.) You can only re-enter Canada with the PR Card. If you have lost it, or if you hadn't yet received it, in order to be allowed re-entry you must have a travel document. That page is the link to the application for such a document.

Well, the cost is $50 (Canadian or equivalent in another currency) and the application is submitted to the visa office of the country one is coming from. I haven't seen what it looks like but I'm assuming it is a paper document that allows you a one-time re-entry.

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
I have telephonic/video interview this week. if everything goes smooth, I plan to land during face to face interview (may b in 1-2 week from now).
Since Joining/job offer wont be instantaneous & I still need ~ 30 days to wrap up at my current Job, I plan to return back in USA.

My worry is I wont be having PR card in Hand to return CANADA after a month, & at this moment I dont know processing time of getting Travel document , so wont be able to commit joining date(which is negative on my part & may loose job).

I dont have option to travel in non-commercial vehicle as I dont have any car to take in CAnada. for bus/air, they need PR card/travel document to allow re-entry.

I am afraid to loose this job opportunity if I have to pull new HR into visa related issues or if I buy more time than 1 month.

can anyone please suggest how to deal with this situation?

Here are some ideas:

If you are in the US, as work-around you could get transportation to the border (not crossing it), walk across with your COPR, then one in Canada, get transportation to your final destination.

Or, if you have a friend who could drive you, that might work.

Alternatively, rent a car to drive back to the US and then back to Canada. A car rental is also a private conveyance.

I need some help. I am a June 2014 candidate (NOC 2174), got passports back in mid-July and planning to travel by own car to Canada in September and return back in a week. I plan to use the Cornwall Border Post in Ontario.

It would be very helpful if someone can share their landing experience, things to say, and what not to say; so that the process is smooth.
Is there a link I can read through?

Wow, thank you. This is a lot of useful information. Is there a similar post for landing through a road border post? I am specially concerned about not being issued a PR card because my stay will be very short. Are there any do/don't there?
