Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding how to document my foreign work experience for a CEC (Canadian Experience Class) application under Express Entry.

I have a total of 3 years of skilled NOC experience (NOC 22222), which includes:
  • 2 years and 9 months of full-time employment, and
  • 3 months of paid full-time internship at the start of the employment in the same NOC carrying the same duties and responsibilities.

I’m planning to claim the full 3 years of experience. My question is:
Should I prepare one experience letter combining both the full-time job and the internship, or
Should I provide two separate letters, one for the full-time work and another for the internship?

I understand that IRCC accepts paid internship experience toward skilled work experience as long as it meets all eligibility requirements (e.g. full-time hours, skilled NOC duties, and proper documentation).

Also, if anyone has dealt with a similar situation or has insights on how IRCC prefers this to be presented, your guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

If all during PGWP, then it counts. One letter. An internship is a job like any other job and nothing differentiates it if same NOC and company.

Its not about Canadian work experience, this is about the work experience gained outside before arriving in Canada that I wanted to know. Thank you for the confirmation that it counts, I hope the same rule also applies to the foreign work experience under CEC.

Internship is just a job that counts.

Assume you listed this internship in all your previous applications.

Hi I'm interested to know if you combined both the experiences into one or split them based on the role.

I worked full-time (48 hrs/week) from June 10, 2019 to May 30, 2020 — a total of 355 days. Based on IRCC's 30 hrs/week rule, I did about 1,530 hours, but in reality I worked over 2,400 hours. Can I still claim 1 year of foreign work experience even if I'm 10 days short? Has anyone gotten points in a similar case?

You need to have a calendar year (12 months) and hours. You don't have a year.

i called IRCC and she said if u have fulltime 48hrs per week no gaps and in one job ... 10 days is short time still u r on more than 1560 hrs... you might get one year point but iam not the right person who gonna give points. u should consult any immigration lawyer... some are saying u will get points some are saying you will not get points... so iam wondering if anybody already got point with less duration... i saw some people claming that they got the points with such case... with 10-15 days shprt as well

You may the get points counted in CRS score but if get ITA and apply for PR, it will be refused because you don't have a calendar year of foreign work experience. Get a lawyer. When you call IRCC, you talk to call centre agents not officers.
