garian4u, cheer up. we're on the same boat. mailed my application on the 24th, received by CIO perhaps 28th - 30th of September and like you, i haven't heard from them.

my agent told me to expect 1st or 2nd week of december.

the good news will come, think positive!

God bless us all!

Thanks Rizela. Ok, 1 more week...

Pasi, what happened of your India PCC? Any luck with Washingtonb DC?

Barsindoo, how's your document gathering going on? Regarding Settlement funds, do you intend to give 6 months bank statements or a Bank certificate? Does anyone have any idea what exactly should be written on a Bank certificate?

I dont know what to say about the Washington DC embassy. I called them, no response. Emailed them, yet no response. So I am going to give a try by sending the notarized copy of my passport. If they are able to do the verification, I can even drive to Washington to get it stamped. If not, I ll have to get it from India only.

Garian4u,

I pray that your AOR arrives this week unfailing. Amen.

I have gathered all my documents except my spouse's experience letter from former employer. As per settlement funds, I am sending fixed deposit certificates for two months and BOA current account details for the last three months.

Bank certificate is for funds placed/fixed for a period of time with the bank - investment instrument.

garian4u, today is ur day, check your email at night.

Farhaniqbal, what a prediction !!! You ought to be an astrologer. I finally received my AOR around an hour back. Thanks Pasi, barsindoo, nz2ca and everyone else. Hopefully, we keep using this forum to plan our next stage as this has been a very lively and helpful forum.

nz2ca, I have to agree with you. The AOR does say that the DD was encashed on 17 Nov, however, I had last checked with the bank on 23 Nov and they had confirmed that it was still outstanding.

Garian4u,

Many Congrats. Now the real deal has started. Do compile your documents quickly.

All the best.

Hi,

I have also applied in Sep 2009, my application was confirmed and have to submit the details by 120 days. I have sent documents for PCC. Now I have to collect the details for IELTS. Did anyone of u appear for IELTS test. My entire education was in english and I am in US for last 5 years. Do I have to appear for test or write a letter to immigration. Pls suggest???

can anyone suggest me for IELTS?

Yes better to go for IELTS, I have all my education from UK and now am doin PhD in Canada and I have published papers, but I will go for IELTS as it may delay process (happen to with one of my friends, they accepted his proof but delayed his application by 3 months ) , IELTS just cost CAD $ 265.

one of my friends applied as well and his application was received on 28th september 2009. He also got AOR today. :)

Rizela, I am sure you are going to get your AOR either by today or within 1-2 days (depending on when your application was actually received). Do post your update. I am sure all of us will be eager to know. Is there no way to find out when exactly CIO received your application? Some courier or postal tracking information, etc? Like you would have noticed from nz2ca and my cases, that DD encashment is no longer a confirmed way to know that (i.e. whether your application has been picked up yet)

Barsindoo, I perhaps used the wrong terminology. I was actually referring to a letter from the bank. A few months back the Buffalo visa office-specific forms referred to the following requirement for "Settlement Funds":
Provide proof of unencumbered and readily transferable funds in a convertible
currency available for settlement in Canada (for you and your family members):
• current bank certification letter; or
• evidence of savings balance; or
• fixed or time deposit statements.
Notice that the above bullets were all "or". However, the current requirement is below:
Provide:
• original letter(s) from your bank(s) and/or other financial institution(s) confirming
the type(s) and current balance(s) of the account(s) you hold
• copies of monthly bank statements showing deposits and withdrawals for the 6
months prior to the submission of you application

Now these are not "or" and that is why I was wondering what exactly should be the content of the letter and do I count 6 months prior to submission to CIO or 6 months prior to submission to Buffalo? And am I interpreting it correct -are these both to be provided Or if I provide letter from bank, I do not need to provide the last 6 months statements? Pasi, or anyone else with Buffalo as the consulate, can you please help?

Thanks Barsindoo. I actually have all documents ready except the FBI PCC. I committed a mistake by delaying my application to FBI for the PCC as I was under a wrong impression and I stomped my foot when Pasi pointed out, that I could have easily appled earlier and the PCC would still not have expired. On top of that I applied to the FBI with the mode of payment being a Credit Card. Everyone that I know of got their PCC from FBI within 2-3 weeks, but all of them were paid through Certified Checks. I came across only 1 case who send a Credit Card payment and his credit card itself was charged after 6 weeks and 2 weeks later, he still hadn't received anything. My application was sent 4 weeks back, I really don't know what to do. This is a stupid waste of time for me. Should I send another request for PCC to the FBI?
