I have a bad feeling about this... I checked up on my FBI clearance request with fingerprints that I sent... and this is what tracking shows:

Class: Priority Mail®
Service(s): Delivery Confirmation™
Status: Notice Left

We attempted to deliver your item at 10:30 AM on April 3, 2010 in CLARKSBURG, WV 26306 and a notice was left. You may pick up the item at the Post Office indicated on the notice, go to www.usps.com/redelivery, or call 800-ASK-USPS to arrange for redelivery. If this item is unclaimed after 15 days then it will be returned to the sender. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later.

Does this mean that its not going to make it to them most likely?
I thought I was being smart sending it priority mail but now I have no idea, maybe it was a mistake.
I even included a prepaid mailer for the return trip back to Canada.

Generally It is not a good idea to send a package with "delivery confirmation" becuase if there is no one available to sign it is re attempted and again if there is no one to sign it is sent back.

See if you can change the option with the UPS to only have it delivered without confirmation.

If I understand you right, if they have left a notice at FBI office to collect the mail, they will not.

You have only 2 options, see if it can change to something which does not require a confirmation or wait till it returns back to you.

Future advice: only send mails with tracking numbers and not "delivery confirmation" to any of these government offices

that's what i was afraid of, however, when i looked into it further, i was told that it was most likely because they attempted to deliver on a saturday, and nobody was there to receive it for this department.

it was successfully delivered today:

Class: Priority Mail®
Service(s): Delivery Confirmation™
Status: Delivered

great!

Out of curiosity - isnt the FBI clearance to be sent with the application? I did that for my wife, did I do something wrong?

It is, however, our first one was lost by the FBI, so we sent in a letter of explanation -- the CIC call centre told me that it is the only piece that is allowed to be incomplete when they review the application, as long as it is sent in afterwards, due to the long processing time, so, as soon as we get ours back from the FBI then we'll send it in right away. Hoping this second round goes smoother.
