That is what stumped me too. It has to have entered their system for them to know that it was received by them on 2nd Nov. I guess I got through to a frustrated customer rep and she probably meant that processing hasn't started yet for my case, otherwise how was she so sure that it will get processed before the end of 10 weeks.

try calling them again ... I have spoken with Monica and Michael each time I got good info .. ( spoke with these 2 almost 6 times till today).. I have had bad reps too , who just say 8-10 weeks and r not willing to say anything more
Just spoke to them again. I always reach Sonya and she is not willing to say anything more and just says that you should check back in a couple of weeks. She uses this term that it is not in our "database" yet, so processing hasn't started, but it is recorded in our system. And she confirmed only one thing if the mode of payment is Credit Card, it delays things by just a couple days...that's it. This has been a horrifying experience for me. I will never ever delay a FBI request in future. This is the first thing that I will ever do.
I sent an e-mail to FBI last morning...still awaiting a reply.

Got a reply. Nothing more than the fact that it is taking between 8-10 weeks and that my case will be processed accordingly. ???

That is exactly the same reply that I have been getting constantly and I am sick of it. It says timely manner whereas it is hardly timely any more. I am at 9.5 weeks and still my request is not in their database.

I wish I knew .. And I asked them as much ! The agents just know the 8-10 week answer and dunno much more than that I guess ... I asked them y is it taking 1 more week, Sonyo answered that thye have some more processes before the result is mailed out ! I asked her what process now , she only could say "there are some more steps in the process ma'am .. Thats all I can say "

I just spoke to FBI today about the status of my prints as well, they have it as being processed but has to go through state processes (whatever that means) they did not expound further, but said it takes 8-10 weeks. They said this after I told them that the account that I used for payment has been debited 2nd week of december. It is now the 3rd week since they started processing from the time the received my request on 11-16. Too long! I have to submit my full docs to Buffalo on 1-19.

If your request was received by the FBI on 11/16, I would strongly suggest that you go ahead and make a full submission to Buffalo right away. My case was received by FBI on 11/2 and it has still not entered their database, anushauc's was received on 11/11 and they would likely send hers out only by 1/12/10. So, I anticipate that you waiting for it to come before 1/19 is too risky.
No progress anushauc. I have given up hope and have made up my mind to wait for a clear 4 weeks before contacting the FBI again. I somehow feel that they are purposefully delaying the cases, to stop the exodus of skilled workers from US to Canada. And I also feel that they maybe delaying cases who are making too many enquiries on Case status. So, I am going on mute.anushauc said:

Garian4u sent the request before me and does not have any update from FBI
U have sent it just after me , so going by the timelines in my case , you may want to write a letter pf explanation ( with some kinda proof of ure submission to the FBI on Nov 16th ) and do ure full submission to Buffalo ... Just a suggestion based on what I have read in the forum ...
