Talk to the supervisor or manager when you call FBI since the agents on phone are not helpful. Mention the importance of the document and keep sending them an email to remind. I have waited 7 weeks in total.

I guess, now calling is the only option left. It seems their e-mail box has been bombarded with enquiries. My recent e-mail to them bounced back saying as quota full.

Mine was very fast, maybe with in 3 weeks in August, 2009.

But my question is how long it is valid? Since It was just recently requested and it has been more than 4 months.

Also, I think you can explain to them the situation. My request letter said they understand FBI clearance might take more than two months and told me that I can send it seperately later on.

Hope it helps

Why are you wasting your time sending emails? Give them a call and they will let you know about your status instantly. Refer to the phone number in my previous post.

I applied for FBI clearence on Nov 13th. I believe the application packet reached them on Nov 19th. I left a voice mail for them this morning...hopefully i'll hear from them tomorrow. I'll keep the members updated about their reply.

I will most certainly as soon as I get time. Normally, it is difficult for me to get so much spare time during work hours to be on hold till I get through to an FBI CJIS customer services representative.

Friend

If you do not have time to stay on hold, leave your name and number in their messaging system and they will return your call. I have had to submit FBI clearances 3 times now for me/my spouse and they have replied everytime I leave a message. They normally get back to you in 24 hours.

Just got a call from FBI...they are taking 12 week to process applications and there is nothing they can do from their end.

I left a voicemail for them last afternoon (sunday) and i got a call from them Monday morning 9 am...prompt as far as returning the call I should say.

They asked me to call them if i do not get the letters by the end of jan. All i can do is wait :(

Hi mtlguy, when was your application actually received by the FBI?

mtlguy, never mind. I got the info from your earlier post - 19th Nov. Mine was received by them on 2nd Nov. I will try to get to them today and find out whatever I can

Hi Everyone,
FBI CJIS today replied to my e-mail saying that they have received my request into their system now and will complete processing according to normal timelines which they mentioned again as 8-10 weeks. Since, today I completed 7 weeks (they received my request on 2nd Nov 09), I am thinking of not pestering them too much by calling them. At least if the confirmation says that my request is now logged into their system, I guess I will wait. Any thoughts?

wow man.. atlast you got some update.. great!!!
Well, not quite and I may actually be 3-4 weeks away from actually getting the PCC. They are yet to charge my CC. The only confirmation that I have is my request has entered their system i.e. it has been logged. Can't say when it will be picked up for processing and by when it will complete processing. Till then, there is still the eerie silence and the suspense

I applied for FBI clearance last year (2008) in October and got it within 3 weeks. Now a year later, time required for processing has increased to 12 weeks. Does that reflect a huge increase in the number of people applying for immigration to Canada?

There are many other reasons for people to seek FBI PCC. But the fact that people applying for Canadian immigration has increased this year is true. However I applied in Oct 2009 and got my PCC in 4 weeks.
