Hi Guys,

I graduated from Canadian College on Dec 18, 2015 and started my full-time job on Dec 21, 2015, and still ongoing. (11 months of experience so far)

I applied for my Post-Graduate work permit on Jan 5, 2016 online and it was approved on Mar 22, 2016.

My question is, for express entry, since when I can start counting my 1 year of experience; Dec 21, 2015, Jan 5, 2016 or Mar 22, 2016 ??

Thank you,
Specterz

Your one-year work experience can be counted starting from Jan 6, 2016, the day after you have submitted your work permit application online.

It sounds like you weren't working legally between Dec 21 and Jan 5. Implied status starts once you apply for PGWP. I'd definitely start counting from Jan 5 or Mar 22 to be safe.

I think Dec 21 is in the middle of a Scheduled Break (Winter Break) so everyone can work full-time (no restriction of 20 hours per week in scheduled break) legally as long as they still have the valid study permit (of-campus work permit included) and a SIN

It's not a school break if he has already graduated.

Well, you are right. If by "I graduated from Canadian College on Dec 18" he meant he received the final transcript/dipoma paper/ or official school letter stating that he has completed all of his degree requirements and specifies the degree seal and subscription date, then his academic career is officially over. But if he meant that he completed all his courses and exams for his final term at school, then he was still in a school break until the recipient of the official letter, because there is no guarantee that he could actually graduated by merely finishing his last term.

That's correct.

I had study permit which was valid until March 30, 2016, so I was working full-time.

I received my official transcript on Jan 5, 2016, and applied for PGWP same day.

I received degree completion letter on Aug 1. And applied for PGWP on 12sept and received it in mid October. In my GCMS notes after PR, they counted those weeks before applying PGWP in assessing my total work experience. Although my work experience without that month was still more than the required 12 months for CEC. So don't listen if anyone says you cannot work after completion of degree. I would still suggest to complete 12 months of work starting from the day you applied for PGWP, means from January 5 in your case. Hope it helps.

That is great. It's only a month difference, so I would wait for Jan 5, 2017 to create my express entry profile.

Hi Specterz,

Just wan to confirm.

Did CIC officer consider your work experience that you gained after application of PGWP (meaning Jan 05 to Mar 22)?

I also have same situation. I applied for PGWP on August 22, 2017 and from the same day I started working. I received PGWP on October 26, 2017.
Should I mention in my EE profile that I have started my job from August 22, 2017?

Than you in advance.
