Hello Everyone
Need some help with the WES process
Q1. The free tool by WES suggests that my Distant Learning Education should be equivalent to 3 Years Diploma in Canada... Is that same as a Bachelor Degree? If not, how many points should I be getting for that, as the CRS doesnt has an option for 3 year Diploma
Q2. Does Distant Education Master gets you the same pointers as the regular MBA?

Hi,
Few concerns:

1. We are trying to get Canada PR without an agent. Please advise.
If so, how to get a job offer as it makes a huge difference in points for Express Entry.
2. I have Bachelors in Engineering (Regular) & Masters in Human Resource Management ( Distance Learning), Is Distance Learning certificate (Bharatiyar University, India) is acceptable in WES?
3. Despite Technical Qualification, I have experience (4years+) only in Administration sector. Is it possible to apply for me or I have to proceed with my Husband as the main applicant?
4. How soon my husband has to retake IELTS as he didn't achieve the desired score? (ECA in progress)

Thank you.

Hi Guys,

Hope you all are doing well. I just few doubts it will be strongly appreciated if you can help me.

currently i am working as System Analyst at Saint Mary's University (Halifax,NS) i joined here in Sep 18 2017. i did my master as well from Dalhousie university. i have an offer letter from NTT Data with a good position but the location will be in Montreal. I requested them to let me work from Halifax for at least 4-5 months and they have no issues with it.

So if i go to Montreal now, will i be applicable for applying the federal PR other than Quebec QSWP.
else if i work from Halifax for 5 months more (total of 9 months from sep 2017 - june 2018) and then move to Quebec and then apply for PR it will be counted in Federal one instead of Quebec.

one more question if i am working from halifax and then company is in quebec so it will be counted as halifax work experience instead of montreal.

my question are quite messy !! hope someone will answer this.

1 - If you apply for PR via EE while living in Quebec then you will receive a request to write a letter of intent in which you must convince the processing officer of your intention to reside outside of such province. If your argument and proof does not convince the officer then your application will be rejected.
2 - If you apply for PR via EE and you choose any city in Quebec as the intended city where you wish to live then your application will be cancelled for not meeting the Federal Skilled Worker criteria.
3 - No such thing as "Halifax work experience" or "Montreal work experience". It is all Canadian work experience.

If you have specific questions regarding QSWP then ask those in the Quebec Immigration section of the forum.

Work experience is normally counted towards claimed points if there was suitable education preparing for the same work. Since your experience and study do not match it will be somewhat difficult to get those points for work. It can still be done but there is extra scrutiny om exact nature of work. Also again distance education is bit iffy. It may not be regarded as equivalent to a regular Masters course in Canada, which you have to prove when you get certificate from ECA( based in Canada) It depends on their subjective interpretation and discretion.

If your husband has a better profile, I will recommend him to be primary applicant. I am not exactly sure about gap in IELT exam but it should be 2-3 months of I remember right. If honest preparation is done, 2-3 months is good time to improve 1 level at least in IELTS. Also experience counts, many people do better second time.

Finding a job in Canada without physical presence is very difficult, although not impossibl.

I ask with one of consultant friend regarding all this.

he told me that if i have 9 months experience in any other province other than Quebec and then if i moved to Quebec. i can apply to federal PR. and then i will not have to deal with QSWP. and no one will ask me anything

I don't know if it is correct or not. ?
can you give brief me about this

To put it mildly your friend is ignorant, do yourself a favour and stop listening to him.

You can definitely apply, nobody is going to stop you from doing that but it will be clear to the processing officer that you're living/working in Quebec. As I already mentioned, you better have a strong argument and proof to show your intention of residing in any other province but Quebec.

Sorry to disturb you again !!

just the last question.

Can i apply for EE when i complete my Canadian work experience of 9 months instead of 1 year. from Halifax and then move to Quebec.
stating that less than a year experience in my EE file and when i complete my 3 more months then update my file as 1 year Canadian experience
As my company had agree me to work from Halifax for 5 months and then i can relocate to Montreal.

If you're looking to be eligible under the Canadian Experience Class program then you cannot create an Express Entry profile until you complete a year of full-time skilled Canadian work experience. That is, if you try to create a profile you will get a message stating that your profile is ineligible.

I do not know if you have any skilled foreign work experience or whether you are eligible under the Federal Skilled Worker program so I cannot make a comment regarding this.

Thanks.. i have seen some people managed to get a job offer to improve points for express entry. Is it possible for my husband as he belongs to skilled category? If so, please advise the procedure.

It is possible but it will be hard work and patience is required.
First of all in CIC website check his likely points by filling the assessment form.
If his profile score above 430 then should receive ITA in a few months.
If it is lower you can try to improve points with job offer.
So in that case submit your profile. And from there you will be able to enter the job bank- a government sponsored database matching potential employers with applicants. It is great way to find a job from outside.
But to increase the chances; look for companies which are posting for jobs and then search for those companies matching his profile. Contact those companies representatives on linkedin or other places. Meanwhile improve CV in line with Canadian expectation.

Apart from this search for recruiters an company HR on linkedin and other job sites.
If you have friends and contacts in Canada ask them to help you out.
They may give you references or other leads.

The answer to question number 2: Use https://applications.wes.org/ca/degree-equivalency-tool/poe.asp tool to check your university if listed in WES.

Question 3: The experience in Administration sector is applicable to respective job code in Canada if it exists. There is no problem in different degree and different experience. It's Canada, not Australia. :) :)

question 4: if you have Masters degree (and WES is evaluating), you should appear in IELTS exam and get 8777. you can easily get a PR, if your age is less than 32.

The job bank is rubbish though. Maybe it works better from inside Canada.
