Hi PRJ,
In my Document Checklist, documents like birth certificate or IELTS or ECA are not asked for. I was wondering if it is normal or I have to provide these documents along with other relevant documents?

Make sure you append eca with your graduation/post graduation documents and then upload.
IELTS, they have some mechanism to pick up the scores. You need not upload. On request, be ready to send.
BC isn't mandatory document any more. But I have seen some people who uploaded this document just to be on safer side.

Open your CIC application and navigate to the submitted forms, then it shows the CELPIP button along with the other forms already submitted with button names transmitted. So, open your submitted application it will give you more idea.

This is what CIC says about ECA:

Note: You will have to provide the reference number from the report in your Express Entry profile, as well as your application for permanent residence (along with proof of your foreign credential). If we cannot validate the number you enter, we will need you to provide an electronic copy to confirm. Keep a copy in case we need to see it.

They only request electronic copy if they can't verify by the reference number.

It seems like MyCIC statuses are pretty random.
Some have medical passed but bg check not started (like me),
Some have both in progress.
Some have nothing in progress.

It might be a manual process where the officer would have to switch the status, and some officers don't change them.

No clue how things are really working but that's my guess.

It seems like ECAS is what really matters. But even that can have some glitches.

For example, I submitted my application on April 10th, but on ECAS it says they started processing March 8th.

Andrew1982, I have a question for you, so lucky to find you active in this thread. My ECAS status was "In progress" when I first became able to log into it, but a week later it changed to "Application received". Did it change that way for you as well? Did your ECAS show "In progress" or "Application received" the month before you got your PPR?

I'm in the same position, fl_pie -- my ECAS status also changed from "In Progress" to "Application received" earlier this week. At first I was concerned, but we also just had our medical changed to passed and bg check changed to in progress today, so hopefully this isn't a step backward, but rather the contrary...

Hi IntoCanada! I believed your wife and son are included in your application... when you received an email for passport request, did you send all your passport together... I'm asking this because my common law and son passport are not with me, I just want to be ready when that happened... crossedfingers : hehe!

Yes. In my case, they were part of my application. So passport was requested for all 3 of us.
If your partner and son are part of application, be ready to send their passports along with yours.
