Hi guys, I have been following this thread for a while and perhaps you can provide some thoughts on my situation?

Basically, does BILATERAL study abroad program from an accredited university (I paid the Canadian tuition) count as physical residence?

Under the assumption that it does count, I could've applied last June, and if it doesn't, I am eligible to apply mid-July this year, which from my understanding can be on the verge of the new act.

okk.. So.. as per my understanding, Physical presence means that when you are physically present in the country and in your situation you can count those days (BILATERAL study abroad program) only to maintain your PR status i.e. 2 out 5 years but in case of citizenship, you cannot count those days when you study abroad even if you studied under any BILATERAL study abroad program.

Hi guys, I have been a very casual reader of you here. I arrived 11 Oct. 2012 and never travelled out of canada. When tentatively 4 of 6 rule apply?? plz reply.

You will be eligible on 12th Oct 2015 under old rule.But by that time most probably new rule will be implemented.
So you will be eligible only on 12th October 2016.

Nothing is confirmed ,we can't know.there is only guesses , my personal guess, and a lot of the people here are guessing the date which is Probably July first.
As per me, I'm eligible on jun 17 to apply, and they will have it on June 19, that's why I mentioned The date.

Today in a few hours at lunch time the immigration minister is talking at a immigration lawyers convention , he is going to be asked the question, let's see if we get any news from there.

Interested to hear if there is any news from the Minister.

My basic residence requirements are fulfilled on June 27, but because of travel for work and one vacation looks like I'll probably miss it. I've had a year now to resign myself to the probability that I will have to wait now until 2017 to apply (as I am losing my pre-PR time). Oh well, what are you gonna do? :

I will fulfill my physical presence requirement on 27th June and I have to sign the application on the 28th June.

I'm not anxious about the cut off date, because I also think that it will most likely be sometime in the second half of the year.
I'm worried that I will be forced to apply without any extra buffer of days and I'm worried that the currier might not be able to deliver my application before July 1st.

Based on the new 4/6 law. Please can some one tell me when I can apply if I
1- landed on Sept 5 2011 - Left Canada on Oct 4 2011.
2- Came back on Sept 4th 2012. and since then I am still in Canada.

What I understand that I can apply on 4th March 2016.

Based on the new 4/6 law. Please can some one tell me when I can apply if I

What I understand that I can apply on 4th March 2016.

I don't think so.

One requirement is 1460 days during the last 6 years.
The other is 183 days/year in at least 4 out of 6 calendar years.

Since in 2012 you spent in Canada only about 118 days, you can't count 2012 as one of those four years.
Not to mention 2011, when you were here for less than a month.

Which means you need to be present in Canada for at least 183 days in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 each.
Assuming you meet the first criteria and assuming that you don't leave Canada in 2016 (until you apply),
the earliest you could apply is 183 days into 2016, so around July 2nd, 2016.
