EE profile: Work experience in months instead of days gives me too much points?

When I fill out the Work Experience part in my profile, you can only enter months and not dates.
When I pick the right months everywhere, I get points for having worked 3 years, while in reality I'm 18 weeks short.

For example, I've worked for company A from October 17 2012 until october 16 2013. So naturally I put October 2012 to October 2013 in my profile,
but the system calculates 13 months for that.

My question is, how do I avoid that? Should I lie and say it was October 2012 until September 2013?

Just leave it as it is and when you receive your ITA apply after you finish the experience required.

NB: The only thing you should meet the minimum requirement for thr express entry 1 full year experience.

Really, the system added 18 extra weeks? Does that mean you had 4 jobs over this time, so it happened 4 times? That's a lot. Generally, what abderhamoumi suggested above is correct, but if you were to get an ITA today, for example, you only have 3 months (12-13 weeks) to to apply, so you couldn't wait that long.

My question is, how do I avoid that? Should I lie and say it was October 2012 until September 2013?

Some people do that, then of course use the correct dates when they submit their applications. I think it's OK to do that... of course if you don't get the ITA right away, you can revise your profile as you get closer to completing the 3 years.

If you NEED the 3rd year to have enough points for an ITA, you could decline any ITA until you're within that 3-month window, then wait to submit the eAPR until you have actually completed the 3rd year.

I have actually started as self-employed last month and was planning to continue doing so but I haven't added that to my profile yet.
So it's 3 more months now until I reach the 3 years of experience. Just to make sure though, am I allowed to do so or do I have to go and find myself a new job as an employee? That would be crazy.

You haven't stated if you are in Canada or outside.

Then self-employment experience does count (it does not count if it is in Canada). But you will have to carefully document it, see "Proof of work experience" -

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/perm/express/intake-complete.asp

"if the applicant is self-employed, articles of incorporation or other evidence of business ownership, evidence of self-employment income and documentation from third-party individuals indicating the service provided along with payment details (self-declared main duties or affidavits are not acceptable proof of self-employed work experience)."
