Hi guys,

Did a short landing in calgary and just returned back along with family of 4..All went well and smooth.
I was their for a week only.I took only $3000 with me but they never asked me for any funds as such.I resided in my friends house
Always remember to make a list of goods you would like to take to canada and submit it to immigration officer. So next time when you take those goods along with you their is no tax on it.You can also import a car tax free. This is only once for immigrants.
I got the SIN number which is important for Job and to open bank accounts and other requirements. So better get the SIN number which you can get from Immigrant service centers in that city. You can google it depending on your city of landing.only your passport along with CPR will be enough to get SIN number.
Currently Oil and gas job market is down due to prices...but other service industry are doing very well and IT jobs should not be an issue.

Hope this will be helpful.

Thanks

Hello Seniors,

Please advise - how can one apply for PCC from India being a resident in Dubai? Is it better to get it from India in person or online from the respective state or through BLS services/Indian consulate in Dubai? Any similar experiences?

Thanks in advance..

Hello There,

It is easier and faster to get it done from BLS here than going through all the hassles in India.
BLS will issue PCC from India against UAE PCC hence you will to first get UAE clearance and take
the originals with you and normal Indian passport size photographs with white background and fill
Up the forms and that's it.

It takes 5 to 6 working days to get it.

Hope this helps.

God bless !!!!

Can someone please advise if there is form for declaring networth (assets liabilities) etc?

Or if there is no form and I print my network on a piece of paper, would canadian immigration/customs sign and stamp it if I request them?

My tax accountant is suggesting that I should get it stamped by them on my next visit. I landed last year and returned after 1 month. I am moving to Canada next month permanently and my tax accountant asked me to get this done, although he is not sure how its done.

Any advice?

Settlement funds would be mainly required once you are landing in Canada. Please see the CIC Document Checklist and pls see the following link:

Dear all,

Has any one got any update from Canadian Embassy in Abu Dhabi?

One of my friend who has applied under Quebec investor program was asked to submit
his passports and he submitted on 11/04 and after 9 days he got some wrong passports
of another Philippino guys so he returned it back.

Plus at the time of submitting his passports to Embassy he was supposed to fill one form
and give, which was also given while submitting his passports.

So when he enquired to Embassy about wrong passports then they came back that his
passports were still in Embassy and this form is missing so he sent as scan by email
which was asked by Embassy but till date didn't get his passports at all.

This is how things are progressing. Have patience........................

All the best

Hello,

Please note that 2 of my friends have recently done medicals and one of them was
Zahra Hospital in Sharjah.

Guy who did in Sharjah has advised that this facility is online which means your medical
records will be updated at VO within day or two and Zahra hospital confirms the same
as well when they have updated it.

So when you go there you only need to carry your original passports and medical
request paperwork and no need for any pictures etc. as they do everything there plus
they are very friendly as well.

Where as the guy who did at London Speciality hospital wasn't very happy so you
can decide based on my 2 friend's experiences.

All the best !!

God Bless!!!!

Thank you vizsagar for sharing experiences on these clinics. I did my Medicals from Al Zahra Hospital in Sharjah with Dr. Abdullah Davoodbhoy.

Initially I made an appointment with Dubai London Clinic in Jumeirah, but was not too impressed with the not too friendly nature of the staff there. May be some people might not agree on this, but that's what I felt.

The whole process at Al Zahra was very stress free & the staff including the doctor himself was very professional & polite.

The nurses started with the general check-up and recorded BP/weight/height. Then the photograph was taken for updating e-medicals forms (no need to carry photographs as they will do it at the hospital itself). After this, we proceeded for the blood tests, x-ray & urine test.

After finishing all this, we finally met the doctor who did general check-up of the chest with a stethoscope, the eyes check-up & finally the physical check-up. That was it.

The doctor also confirmed the upload of the reports will be done in maximum 2 working days. And, later you could call the nurse & confirm if all this has been done. Overall, very happy with the experience.

Hope this helps future applicants on their medicals.

Thanks once again to forum members & especially vizsagar & greatnewton for sharing their experiences.

True! Zahra hospital was very good and that's what I've heard from others too when comparing other hospitals/clinics for this medical checkup.
