Hello everyone!

Here's my situation; my boyfriend is american and is currently in Wyoming with his family and I live in Montréal. We are trying to find a way to be together and for him to be able to work here.

My dad has a small telecommunication company and is currently looking to hire someone (a fiber optic splicer) in order to be able to apply on some contracts. the thing is there is a shortage of splicers in Quebec especially ones with a certain certification (they are very rare). So my dad knows that he will have to hire an underexperienced guy and train him and he has offered to hire my boyfriend 9after he passes the certification) and show him the trade.

I did some research and think that it might work but I wanted to check it out with you guys cause you know your stuff!!!
So what I got is that my dad needs to advertise the job offer on a governmetn website and 2 other places for at least 28 days (the time needed for my bf to pass the certification) after which he could apply for a lmo. Once the lmo is approuved my bf would ask for a CAQ and apply for a working permit. Does that sound right?

One of my main concern is that my bf will not have any experience at the time of his application... woudl that cause any problem? Cause it would actually be really hard for my dad to hire a splicer with certification and experience so to me it doesnt sound like to much of a stretch...

Your thoughts?

Thank you so much for the help!

Yes - the experience could be a problem. If your father has to train your boyfriend, then why can't he train a Canadian?

In the end, all you can do is try and see what happens. Good luck.

Thats what I thought...... Might as well try, the worse that can happen is they say no right? Or could that make it harder for him to eventually get in the country?

Thanks for the answer :)
