We’re a UK company and plan to hire our first employee in Canada later this year. The person is already legally able to work in Canada, so immigration itself isn’t the issue.
I’m more confused about the employment side once we actually hire them.

We don’t have a Canadian company, payroll, or HR team there, and opening an entity for one employee feels like a lot to take on this early.

I’ve been considering using an employer of record, and compared a few different providers, Globalization Partners is one we've already had a few calls with, so we might go with them for this kind of setup. What I understood from these calls is that they would employ the person locally while they work for us, and handle Canadian payroll and the local employment requirements.

Has anyone here hired someone in Canada this way from the employer side?
I’m mainly interested in whether it was straightforward and whether there were any unexpected issues around benefits, termination terms, or changing the employment contract later?
