I have a question regarding CEC work experience calculation. I am employed full-time in Canada (postdoctoral fellow at a university) and during my employment I had two short periods (~1 month each) where I was outside Canada conducting field research that was a required part of my job, under my supervisor’s direction. During these periods, I remained on Canadian payroll, received my regular salary, and continued my employment without interruption. My employer letter explicitly states that this research abroad was a mandatory component of my duties and that I remained a full-time employee. Would IRCC generally consider these periods as part of my Canadian work experience, or could they exclude them because I was temporarily outside Canada? I’m particularly asking in the context of CEC eligibility/CRS points thresholds. Any insights or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated.
