Well I just got DM recently like 3 weeks ago, but according to this forum the majority gets the oath scheduled within 3 weeks of DM. So I decided to email them and they replied that my file is in queue and will be scheduled in 3 to 4 months
Which office?

Same here! Really infuriating. Glad I'm not the only one waiting forever for oath when the vast majority gets scheduled like between 1 day and 3 weeks after DM, although I wish neither of us were in this situation.

However, potentially good news for us if we have to wait more than 4 months for oath scheduling? I just saw this buried in some older threads - seems that the "service standard" is a maximum of 4 months between DM and oath scheduling; if we wait more than 4 months, we could get 25% of the Right of Citizenship fee refunded, and 50% if we wait more than 8 months. Now that Right of Citizenship fee was only $100, so we're talking about only $25-$50, but anything helps lessen the pain:

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...s/service-fee-act-remissions-policy-2021.html
Right of Citizenship

The Right of Citizenship service standard is a maximum of 4 months. The first invitation to attend a citizenship ceremony must be sent to the applicant within 4 months of the date of their positive grant decision.

The remission will be

  • 25% of the fee for less than 4 months past the service standard, and
  • 50% of the fee, if for more than 4 months past the service standard
For citizenship applications that are refused, abandoned or withdrawn, applicants will continue to receive a full refund of their Right of Citizenship fee.

Unfortunately, I don't think this is applicable to the backlog due to Covid 19 cases (see below) - Also, if you ask any immigrant they rather see their file processed rather than delayed with a fee remission. Just saying!

------
"Should it be determined that the service standard in relation to a fee paid is not met primarily due to exceptional circumstances, the fee payer is not eligible for a remission.

Exceptional circumstances are defined as circumstances outside IRCC’s control such as, but not limited to

  • unforeseen system disruptions and/or failures
  • natural disasters
  • emergency situations that cause
    • a closure of an office
    • a reduction in the service offerings within the office, or
    • a surge of applications outside the department’s control that causes a disruption to the normal operation of an office
  • unforeseen office closures
  • labour disruption
  • third-party service and/or service provider service interruptions or delays, where IRCC does not have a contractual agreement with the service provider"

3-4 months is a long waiting time!

Yeah I suspect that if we contact IRCC to ask for the partial refund, they will use COVID as an "exceptional circumstance" excuse not to. But if we do get into that position of waiting 4+ if not 8+ months between DM and oath invitation, it's worth a try anyway. I think this policy could be the reason why the vast majority of applicants are scheduled for oath pretty soon (in 3 weeks or less) after DM.

Hi,

Does anyone know if the DM is only for adults? Do children stay "in process" until Oath?

We have a DM from 21st July at the London office. 14 year old daughter is still "in process". We are July 2019 applicants!

ECAS shows all complete for myself and wife except Oath which is "not completed". Daughter has all "in progress" except test and oath which are "not completed".

Cheers.

Any oath invitation from Saskatoon office in August or September? I am wondering if they are arranging ceremonies soon or not!

Test Completed: March 7, 2020
Decision Made: July 18, 2022

Meanwhile, my PR Card expired earlier this month. I sent a renewal application two months ago, which looks like they have lost it. Because Canada Post tracking says delivered, IRCC says we can't find it.

I am looking into Mandamus, but not sure how to proceed. If you have any info about Mandamus or Writ, please share so I can start that process. Thanks.
I am same like you.
