So excited! Hubby got notification that his criminal rehabilitation application was approved. I am sure in no time at all we will also receive a DM on our application. Such a daunting process. So glad it is almost over. Congrats to all the new DMs!!!

just another update on our case:

My wife has finally landed today in Toronto, it took less then 10 minutes with CBSA officer and she got the SIN number right away.
They didn't even bother asking for her extended visitor stay visa
SIN number is just a plain print out and COPR now has a stamp and a signature, card should arrive in about 2 months.
We did not end up driving to the closest US border port because flying was a cheaper and quicker option (if you buy a ticket a month in advance). :)

Hi - just wondering if your wife got her SIN at the airport during landing? I didn't realise that was possible.

Just got notification from Royal Mail that my COPR is on its way to me. ;D

The London Visa office put it in the post last night - so 9 days after they would have received my passport scan and additional photos.

After a whole load of stress it's all pretty much worked out perfectly as my flight to Vancouver is on Tuesday and I'll be landing as a permanent resident of Canada :p

Yep, she got it right there, although I heard not every airport does this.

Didn't call anyone. When they request the passport scan they ask you to put a self addressed envelope in so they can send the COPR back to you. I sent a Royal Mail Special Delivery envelope so I could track it and the tracking number suddenly came to life this morning.

congrats! since we have been held up unnecessarily by Ottawa for the past 13 months, I can only hope that we too have a 10 day turnaround! Landing by Xmas is the best we can hope for these days! We sent our stuff in on Tuesday this week :)

Woohoo!!! Finally received an email from Ottawa tonight requesting passport copies, passport photos (why do they even ask us to send photos with the original application?) and information update (particularly important since they seem to have completely ignored all our previous attempts to change my husband's address). Getting so cynical about the whole thing, but so relieved to finally be in the final stages....

So, for anyone who is interested in the timeline, I guess it took approx 3 weeks for the email to be sent to us after 'Decision Made' on Ecas.

Are you a U.S citizen, or one of the outlier that had their file transferred to Ottawa?

Outlier... My husband (applicant) is a NZ citizen and we were living in NZ when we applied, so we were expecting to go through Sydney office. He is also an Argentine citizen, so not sure if that has somehow slowed down the whole process??? We applied in December 2014.

Hope you hear news soon- it is such an excruciating wait. I am still not holding my breath, as the first part of the letter clearly states that we should only proceed with sending in the documents if there has been no change in mailing address. We have tried to change my husband's mailing address SO many times, but they have not updated it so our NZ address is on the email. Not sure what to do, but we are thinking we will try to update it again through email, but send in the documents without waiting to hear back from them. Don't want to risk missing the 30 day deadline while our address change email sits in some inbox...

Any advice from anyone on this address change thing at this point in the process would be welcome....

I sent three emails before mine got changed. One was shortly after the file would have been transferred to Ottawa after SA, the 2nd was when I replied to the generic email, to which I got a reply saying I needed to go to the website and use the link there to change it, so I did that and sent in the third request . It finally was changed in ECAS on the same day the site was down for most of the morning sometime early last week.

This is the link they sent in the email reply I got: https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/canada-case-cas-eng.aspx.
It's probably the same link as is on the website, but give it a try. Like I said, it still took about 30 days for the change to show in ECAS though. I've also read about a lot of cases where the address change is done on the file but doesn't show on ECAS. I hate to suggest it, but maybe try the call center and see if they can check it for you. Maybe you get someone decent who will actually do it.

Thanks very much for the information and the link - very helpful! We have now sent an address change via that link as well as the online form on another page. Hopefully that fulfils their shouted request to inform the visa office of the address change IN WRITING :).

I know U.S Citizens are passport exempt and PPR should not be requested, but has anyone heard a story of a U.S citizen being requested a PPR before the COPR is mailed out?
