I e-mailed them again, w/ the exact message, except I added at the top "Hi! I emailed almost a month ago about my address change but haven't heard back and haven't seen it changed in ECAS yet, so I want to make sure it got through. Thank you."

Lol. Hope they change it this time!!!

We found that it was better speaking with them over the phone vs. trying to email.

Good luck.

Ottawa VO doesn't have a direct line. When you call CIC you are talking to the call centre.

So my husband landed on May 4th. It was super easy, it took about 45 min because it was a new system that she'd only used twice. We had all his belongings and they looked at nothing. So it was all just paperwork :) Everyone was friendly and helpful, great experience! We went through the Sarnia Ontario border crossing.

I just received an email from Ottawa asking me for an FBI clearance and proof of relationship. Both were included in my application. What I don't understand is they gave me 45 days to send it in and I KNOW that the FBI clearance waiting time is over 12 weeks right now. Anyone have this happen to them and then be ok? I am freaking out. I emailed them back telling them that it was all included in the application!.. Sad .. I am so upset!

Mariac: Can you email them again and include a copy of your FBI clearance and the proof of relationship? Did you make copies prior to sending the original? How frustrating.

I emailed them back. Praying they find it. I even told them what envelope it is in!.. I am still going to go get fingerprints and start a new FBI check JUST IN CASE. They obviously lost it!.. :( .. I just pray they find it! .. My marriage certificate is easy!... The problem is the FBI check is taking a really long time!

I didn't know the FBI would send me another original with out me going through the entire process again? Do you have any other information on this?

This is always so frustrating when they lose things >:( I can tell you that if they don't reply (and I wouldn't hold my breath), you can always contact your MP (your husband's), and they can contact Ottawa to get clarification what really happened, and even get an extension for you if needed (obviously you do need it, since 45d << 12 weeks). Some MP's are not really helpful, but mine was, and they usually get a reply from Ottawa within a few days.

Do you get some sort of paper when you just apply for an FBI check? If you do, you should send them that confirmation with your proof of relationship withing those 45 days, and include a cover letter explaining that you already sent it all, that FBI check takes long, but you already started the procedure.

Sorry this happened to you, but Ottawa has some history with making mistakes/losing things/not responding/name what else ::)

I emailed them scanned copies of my FBI clearance and of our Marriage certificate. I explained that it was all included and where it was. I called CIC, they are useless. They just tell you to comply. My husband is contacting his MP and I am heading to get new fingerprints now to order yet another FBI check. I am just heartbroken because if it was just a something I could send right away it would be no big deal. But the FBI clearance missing means I have to wait another 3 months for this to be over :( ... I have been crying for an hour. Sadly tears won't fix this.

I completely understand you. My application was prolonged, too, for full 2 months, and just because they sent me a wrong CoPR. CIC call center never helps. Sometimes they even give you false information (happened to me). MP was my lifeline, and I really hope your husband's MP will be as helpful as my husband's one was. It will be OK, try to think positive *tap_on_the_back*

You have to reapply, sadly they won't issue a second one. I wonder if they'd accept one from a channeler?

Take some deep breaths. One thing at a time <3 First, fingerprints. Then, send to the FBI. Make copies of what you're sending in, e-mail to CPC Ottawa. Then, contact your MP.

You can do this Maria! You're tough and strong and powerful!! You got this. You've come this far, you can get thru a background check! Still I'm so sorry that this happened to you.

Sorry to hear this :(

A couple thoughts to help you move things along:
1. Reply to the e-mail they send you without changing the subject and including the whole history (if you did already, yay! If not, send another e-mail). That way the e-mail will be automatically routed to the officer who sent the e-mail and who has the best info to answer you.
2. Great that you included copies of the documents already.
3. When was your FBI clearance issued (they usually extend it past a year if they received it within 3 months of being issued but not necessarily always)? It doesn't sound like an expiration issue since they are requesting the marriage certificate too, but may be worth checking.

Hoping for a speedy resolution for you!

Hi guys, just wondering if anyone here had to send there fingerprints after sending their application... If so what did you include on the cover page? And did you wait until the requested it from you?

Thank you for all the advice. I did all that.

The FBI Check was issued August 2014. CIC received my application Sept 2014.
